March 26th to April 1st, 2012~~Southern Oaks Weekly Re-Cap~~

March 26th    Monday
Up early and left with Ralph and Barb for Mexico..  It was a nice warm day and I dressed accordingly..  Got to Progresso around 10 am and went to Jessica's Pharmacy and then to the Disco.

 Rio Grande at Progresso, MX
 Progresso Mexico boarder crossing
Dan and Karen

Barb was on a Mission to get some cowboy boots and she found some that she liked..  We left around 3 pm and then stopped at Fat Daddy's for something to eat..
We got home around 6 pm.... It was a long day..  Dan and I decided to go to Dairy Queen for a blizzard for dinner.. Yummy it was good.

March 27th    Tuesday
Sunny and 80's at 10 AM.....
My brother Dave called and talked to Dan.  Dave is an Over The Road Trucker and he wanted to give Dan and update about construction and easy roads to travel.  It took 3 calls and I think that Dan has his route planned.  It is no fun when you are on the road traveling and having to get into heavy construction, especially on the interstate and then have to sit and wait...We just hung around as the weather was so nice, just sat out and watched the day fly by...

March 28th    Wednesday
Up early and took Herbie to Salty Dog to get a bath.. Then stopped at The Donut Palace for 2 fritters and then headed to the Laundromat to wash clothes.  Dan went for one last time to Dobbies for a haircut.  Came back and got me and then we headed home and waited for the call to pick up Herbie...  While we were waiting we got a call from Gene and Linda and told us that Kolby went to Rainbow Bridge.. Just how sad, I don't like to get calls like that.. Herbie and Kolby were best of friends....
Later 8 of us went out for lunch today at Trout Street.  4 of us had Liver and Onions... Yummy! it was good.. As we were in line for the ferry we seen a huge oil rig come down the inter coastal for repair..  Wow we timed that just right.

For dinner we went to Redfish Willies, a new outdoor style eatery on Conn Harbor.  Great food and good price.. Yep, we will go back..

March 29th    Thursday
The skies were dark and the thunder was rumbling early..  Dan took Herbie out before the rain.. It was just a light rain, but Corpus got a lot...  Dan and I went out for Breakfast at the Bakery Cafe and then came back home and Dan finished finding room for everything.. I went and washed rugs and sheets... It was really warm out ..  We sat out later in the afternoon and then we went to Pizza Hut for our annual pizza night.  Jim and Nancy and Dan and Carolyn from Ransom Road were there also and when we finished our dinner we went and visited with them...
Said our Good Byes and then came home an sat out and enjoyed a few cups of coffee before retiring to our recliners.

March 30th     Friday

Dan got up early and made coffee and took out the garbage and sat out side and watched the morning arise.  I did my morning routine, and then Dan made breakfast.  We got a call from our good friends Gene and Linda and they want to do something this morning.  They came over and we went to Corpus shopping.  Went to OLD WORLD and I found some items that I needed and a few that I did not need.  Then we went to SPEC's a amazing liquor store..  We bought a bottle of Honey Whiskey.. This is something new that is on the market and oh my is it good..  No, we don't drink alot, we do have a social drink sometimes. Then we went to Jason's Deli for lunch, and I had my all time favorite"THE RUBEN" It was good... Dan had THE YANKEE.. that is his favorite.  Then we went to H.E.B.  SUPERSTORE grocery store.  HEB IS BIG in Texas and they have really good prices.   Great competition for Wal-mart.  When we got back home the temp was 90 degrees and I was tired.  We had a great time with our friends and they decided that they are going to follow us when we leave..  It is always fun to have some one traveling with ya..
March 31st     Saturday

Well, alot more RV's are leaving and it looks pretty bare around us. It is cloudy and over cast this morning..  Everything is all packed and put away, it is going to be a lazy day.

April 1st Sunday

We left Southern Oaks at 6:45 am. We waited at the entrance of the park for our friends Linda and Gene, when we seen them coming down the Highway we pulled out and we were on our way.  We stopped at Buck-ee's in Wharton and got some coffee and the best cinnamon rolls that I have tasted in a long time..  I looked around the gift shop area and they sure do have alot of stuff.  In the fall when we come back thru I will get some of the jewelry that they have..  Bling Bling..
Arrived at Sulphur LA,  The campground is really nice and clean and the amenities are great. It is definitely on the list to stop again.  A+ Motel and RV park.

Looking forward to another week is ahead of us

The Texas Blue Bonnets

 March 19th    Monday
It was a nice morning today,  We had a last HOC get together Breakfast this morning at
Alice Fayes in Fulton, on the bay.  16 people showed up and there were some new faces and that was great to meet them. We all had a great time, Said good byes and see you in fall..

Then, our neighbors Emma and Ben asked if we could all go out to dinner together so of course we said yes.  They are a sweet couple.  We went to The Beaches in Port Aransas and had a great meal and visit.. Came back home and made some coffee and sat out and relaxed...

March 20th    Tuesday
Rain, Rain this morning. Dan said that is really stormed early in the morning and I slept through it.  Dan went for coffee with the Ransom Road Boys.
We met our Friends Ron and Rose and Mic and Linda at "The Butterchurn".  The food was very good this time. We had a good visit with our friends and most likely will not see them until November.

March 21st   Wednesday
Cool morning this morning.. About 60 degrees. WOW I slept until 8 am..  This daylight saving time sure has every ones biological clock upset.  Our HOC friends Dave and Mary and Reggie and Nancy left this morning started to head back home.
Dan and Gene ventured out this morning to play with the fish...

Fishing was not too good, but it was a nice day Dan said.

March 22nd  Thursday
It was a nice sunny morning out. Dan made breakfast and we sat out side and finished our coffee and chatted with passer Byers.  We went and washed his truck and while he was gone I went and visited with Ralph, Barb, Joanne and Bruce. They were finishing their breakfast of homemade waffles and strawberries at Bruce and Joanne's rig.  Plans were made to go to Beaches Cafe and Bakery in Port Aransas. As usual the food was good and so were the desserts..
March 23rd   Friday
This morning there was light fog coming in, but as soon as the sun came out it went away.  Another nice morning, which we took advantage of and sat out and had our coffee.   After having a little lunch we took a drive over to Lamarch drove through Goose Island State park. It has been many years since we had been there.  There was nice camping on the gulf. Concrete canopies with concrete tables..  Would be nice to stay there for a few nights and watch the stars..  The Clubhouse is almost done and everyone is working diligently to meet the deadline for tomorrows open house.
We stayed home for dinner and had some delicious homemade chili that I made a few days ago, with some french bread, oh yummy.  Chili is always good after it sits a few days.
Sat outside again and enjoyed the nice evening..

March 24th   Saturday

Dan made 2 key lime pies for Sunday happy hour.... Those pies are really good.  After we got done cleaning up, we went to Bealls as we had 5 20% off coupons that we had to use... I got some jewelry, Dan bought some shorts and I bought capri's and a purse....

Came back and Gene and Linda were here and Wilma and Jim, waiting for us so we could all walk over to the clubhouse and see the new building that is finished and have a scrumptious lunch... We are looking forward to coming back next year and enjoying the amenities...
Then we went back later and listened to the Winter Texan Band and visited with the guests and friends from other parks....  It was a fun day..

March 25th  Sunday

Light fog this morning and all is quiet in the park this morning... Too much partying last night... It was a great time, lots of laughs..
