November 5, 2012 to November 11, 2012

I am glad that the election is over with and life goes on.

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

November 5th Monday

Woke up this morning with dense fog. 71 degrees at 8:00 am. This daylight savings time has got my biological clock all screwed up. Oh well, hopefully I will get adjusted. Today we are having 6 of our Friends come over for a Pot Luck at our site.. Wow, Lee and Linda brought some pulled pork, Carol and John brought a pot of Italian Beef and the best lemon bundt cake that I have tasted with some homemade raspberry sauce. Jim and Pat brought a huge pan of homemade scalloped potatoes..

HOC FRIENDS AT POT LUCK AT OUR LANDMARK

We had a very nice time and of course we had alot of stories to tell and laugh at. We discussed what we were going to do at the Camper Clinic Open house this weekend. We decided that we were going to go on Friday and look at the Heartland Rv's and then have something to eat. Then on Saturday we are going to have a table set up at the show and promote the Heartland Owner Club. Everyone left around 5 PM and then Dan and I cleaned up everything. The evening was nice and Dan sat out and enjoyed the evening.

November 6th Tuesday ~~ Election Day ~~

I was up early 5:15 am and made my cup of tea and had a banana. After Dan was up and came down for his coffee, I went up and showered and got dressed and went and sat outside with Dan and had coffee with him. Nice morning. We are meeting our friends at The Bakery Cafe, for breakfast. Afterwards we went to Corpus to Academy Sports so Dan can get some new shoes (NEW BALANCE). We looked at a smoker and it looks like Dan might end up buying it and keeping it down here in a friends storage locker. He is always has to think about stuff and then when he decides to get it, then it is either off sale or product is gone. He just don't get it. Dan helped our friend Gene get his fishing cart and stuff out of storage. They made plans to go fishing on the North Jetty on Thursday.. Went to Happy Hour and then had dinner and are watching the election returns.. I was tired of watching the returns and went to bed with my good book.. I will find out in the morning who our president is..

November 7th Wednesday

It was 5:45 AM when I got up and it was 55 degrees.. Turned on the TV and found out who our President is... Made my cup of tea, and did my ritual that I do in the morning.

This morning Direct TV will be coming and setting the satellite so we can watch our Direct TV. Ah-ha, we now have Direct Tv along with local channels. I get to watch The Food Channel, and NCIS and other favorites.
Went to get my haircut or should say trimmed and the ladie that I had for the past few years wasn't there.  I had a different gal and she did a good job.  Happy just to get it done.
Went to Happy Hour and afterwards we went out for dinner with friends.  Redfish Willies, opened just before we  left in spring.  Nice place on the water in Conn Harbor.

Another day that came to a close, it was fun.

November 8th Thursday ~~ Dan Goes Fishing ~~

70 degrees this morning at 6:30 AM.  Dan is getting ready to go fishing on the North Jetty. Herbie is going to go to Salty Dogs, for a bath and then a play day.  We want him to get use to play days, so when we go on our cruise, he knows that we will be back to get him.  Linda and I went on to do some shopping. We went to Jeannie's Beads, Bealls, Wal-mart, a shop in Fulton, lunch at The Lunch Box, in Rockport. Which we should of gone to Apple Dumpling instead or Charlotte Plumbers.  Then it was time to pick up Mr. Herbie.  They said that he was very good and didn't bark or carry on...
Shortly after, Dan came home and said that it was a great day for fishing, but the fishing wasn't really good.  Alot of piggy perch  (LOL) and bait thieves.  He did enjoy himself and is going back again.

Dan went to Happy Hour and I decided that I was going to stay back today. Well, about 10 minutes after he left, Herbie carried on something terrible. I thought he had to go out, so I let him out. He turned his head and looked toward that area and then looked at me.  Well he wanted to go to Happy Hour.  So I had to hook him up, grab a bottle of water and take him for a walk down there.    I just wonder "who is controlling Who..??

November 9th Friday ~~ Camper Clinic~~

We were up early this morning again.  We have a busy day, but had to do laundry.
Dan took Herbie for his morning walk and when he returned we went to the Laundromat to do our laundry.  Our friends Mic and Linda were there, finishing up their laundry.  We  met Mic and Linda when we went on our 1st cruise from Texas.  We have been keeping in touch ever since.
After we were done with out laundry, we went to Portland to get our mail, and then went to the grocery for a few things.  Headed home, put a few things away and then we had to head out to Rockport to Camper Clinic to meet up with our friends.  It was hot out there.  We got in line for our lunch of sausage, potato salad, and chips, water, provided by Camper Clinic.  Our friends came and then  here we seen Jim and Bette McGee from George West. That was a surprise to see them. After we were done we went and walked through some Bighorn and Big Country 5th wheels. They didn't have any Landmarks, but what they had there were new ones we liked what we seen.
After we seen all that we needed to see,10 of us went next door to Los Comales for Mexican dinner.

Had a great ending to a warm and fun day..   Time to relax!!!

November 10th Saturday ~~ Camper Clinic~~

It was 77 degrees this morning at 6 AM.. Sun shining and it is suppose to be a windy day. Dan and I are off to Camper Clinic today to promote Heartland and Heartland Owners Club at a RV Show.  We were there at 9 AM, Jim and Pat were there and we were setting up our table.  Lee arrived with a canopy which helped keep the sun out.
What a Crew .. We were waiting for Heartland Owners,

I had a piece for soft chocolate from Sam Club Vendor that was next to us and
it was melted and it was all over my face.!!

There were alot of people for the free lunch and music, and just lookers at the RV's on the lot. Around 2PM we cleaned up area and called it a day.
After we left Camper Clinic, we went and visited a good friend that we had met on our 1st year in Texas.  Dave and his wife Joyce come from Northern Minnesota, and when he got down here he went to the Dr. and found out that he has Cancer.  Last year when he got here he had open heart surgery.. Well, he is leaving to go to Houston for his treatments, so we wanted to visit and wish him well. He has a great attitude that he is going to beat this.  Just hope that they get him in for treatment soon, so he gets to feeling better..
We all met at 5 PM at The Bakery.  After we got back from dinner, Dan and I went to the Clubhouse for the dance that was going on.   The 2nd one since we got here.  It was John Lee's birthday and they had a cake for him.  We stayed until 9 PM, it was a busy day for us and we were tired.

November 11th Sunday ~~ Veteran's Day~~

It was 77 degrees this morning and the wind was blowing. We are going to chill out today..  Nothing planned, I plan on spending time with Mr. Herbie, watching the NASCAR race. Speaking of Nascar... Wow.... Lots of excitement..  Linda and Gene, stopped over and we made plans to go to Mexico after Thanksgiving.  Dan fixed one of lawn chairs. It was just a lazy day... We had left overs (Mexican) for dinner. A cold front is to come through tonight.. Just hope that the wind don't follow it. Today was a quiet day.. Which was nice....   Wonder what next week will be like...  Hope you all had a nice week.

October 29th to November 3rd 2012 ~~ The Fun Begins~~

Hurricane Sandy struck land this week in New York and New Jersey.  Just how sad.

October 29th   Monday
Weather was not to bad this morning. It was in the 40's but no wind, so it was bearable. We got breakfast and then got ready to leave Texrkana, AR heading for Texas. When we got to Benton, AR we stopped at "Brown's Buffet". We have been there a few times before and oh my what a wonderful place.  All homemade, hot and really good Southern Cooking.  There is a place next door at a closed up Gas station to park the Rigs.  After we got done eating we headed south.  In Carthage Texas, Hwy 59 and Hwy 79, approx 3 miles east is The Jim Reeves Memorial Wayside.  We have not been there yet, but I have heard so much about it.  Hopefully one of these trips we make, we can get there.  Check it out on Google.. We arrived in Goodrich, and we had reservations at Woodzy Hollow Campground.  (never been there before). When we pulled in we knew that we would not be staying. The sites are not big enough for big rigs and where they were going to park us, there were low laying tree branches and Dan said NO. I am not going to rip my roof.  Gene agreed also.  So we went back to Magnolia Lake down the road. We were there last year.  It is a good place to stay overnite, but poor TV antenna reception.  Very friendly, good prices too. After we were set-up Gene and Linda came over for coffee and then I made some pizza's.  It was a busy day. Time to unwind and watch news about Hurricane Sandy..

October 30th   Tuesday
It is 39 degrees this morning. We woke up early 5:00 AM.  I got up and turned on the news of the Hurricane.  There is a wind advisory back home.  We are heading out around 9 AM to get through Houston and we are headed for Victoria, Texas.  Gateway to the Gulf.  We stop there every year.  Wonderful place, very friendly. We will stay there until the 1st of Nov. and then approx. an hour and half we will be at Southern Oaks. After we got set up Gene and Linda and us went to Wal-mart, so Gene can get a new battery for his car.  When we got back we put the smoked ribs Dan made before we left home, in the oven to warm up, I made a salad, and Gene and Linda came for dinner.  They both really enjoyed the ribs.  After they left, I cleaned up and sat in my chair to relax. Dan took Herbie out for his walk and then when they got back, Herbie got his baby and headed for bed.  Now that sounds like a good idea.

October 31st   Wednesday
57 degrees this morning.  I woke at 4:30 AM, Highway noise is non stop.   I laid there until  5AM and then got up, turned on TV and made some coffee.  There are alot of workers here in this park this year. Heard that there is a pipeline being built and that is why there is alot of workers.  As I sit here this morning, I hear alot of vehicles start up and leave.  Gateway to the Gulf is a very nice park. Went this morning and I had a pedicure and manicure.

Now my toes and fingers look pretty, I sure love how my feet feel after I have a pedicure.  It was a nice warm afternoon.  Gene, Linda, Dan and I decided to go and eat out. We went for Chinese.  Yummy....

November 1st  Thursday      Arrive At Southern Oaks RV Resort
It is getting warmer out... 67 degrees this morning, and there is fog.  We will be leaving around 8:30 AM for about a 75 mile trek to Aransas Pass.  It will take some time to set up and clean and move our furniture around. Finally no more moving for about 5 months.  I have to unstress.   LOL

November 2nd   Friday
It was a nice morning and Dan had his coffee out side.. Merv came over to join him and say Hello.   At 9 AM we have to be at The Bakery Cafe to meet out Heartland friends.  We arrived and there they were. The McClures and The Doggetts.. The Zurns were there around 9:30..  It was sure nice seeing them all.
Lee and Linda  McClure

Pat and Jim Doggett
John and Carol Zurn
Dan and Karen
The laughs started and did not end until we got in our vehicle's and headed out.  It was sure great to see everyone again.
After we left we drove to Portland to see if we had any mail, and then paid our yearly box fee.  Then we went over to Bealls and I found a couple of items and then we came back home.  Had a bit of lunch, took Herbie for a walk.  Walked over to Merv and Pat's for Happy Hour, Pat and Mary and visited with them. Sure is nice to be back in the groove again.  After Happy Hour (around 6 Pm) I suggested that we go over to the Mexican restaurant for dinner. It is an authentic place, it is clean and good food.  It is in Aransas Pass. I sure enjoyed the cheese enchilada's.   All in all it was a great 1st day in Aransas Pass.. Which more to come.

November 3rd  Saturday
Today we went with Jim and Pat to George West, Storyfest.  www.georgeweststoryfest.org A HOC friend is one of the founders of Storyfest.  He has been doing this for 24 years.  It was fun to go out there and see what it is all about.  See Jim and Bette, and their son and daughter-in-law. We listened to a few stories and had some food and looked at the vendors.

It was very hot and so we decided that we would head back in an Air Conditioned Truck.   As we approached Corpus, we decided that we would go to The China Garden for dinner.
After dinner we took the scenic route back home via the Island.  Got to Pioneer RV Resort and thought that we would stop in at John and Carol's and see John's new Kayak and they were not home.  So, we got back home and Jim and Pat went home.  Dan decided that he was going try to get our Direct TV turned on and to no avail, it did not happen.

November 4th   Sunday
Woke up at 5:30 AM and turned on TV only to find out that more rain is coming.  So I let Herbie out for a quick squirt and walked around the 5th wheel to see if we lost anything in the storm last night. Only to find out that there is more rain coming around 7 AM.  Sure enough it is here.  It only lasted for about a half an hour.  Dan went out and washed the back window.  He quick walked Mr. Herbie.  The rain passed and the sun is shining.
Dan took Herbie out for his morning walk and I made breakfast.  After he was back and we finished breakfast I went for a walk....without Herbie... I did really well, no pain in my back or leg, and I did a really good pace.  This will be on the Morning TO DO list..  Later in the afternoon we took a ride to Wal-mart and for a few things.  Dan made a steak on the grill for dinner. I had a small piece and it did not sit well with me.

One thing I found out is that if some food don't set well with me, nothing sets well at that time.
Well, Monday, we are having this loud and crazy group of Heartlanders over at our place for a potluck and make some plans for the upcoming weeks.  Keep tuned in for all the hoop-la...  Hope you enjoy this blog, send me a email and let me know.
