February  20th Wednesday
Today is the Big Day for Dan and I.. Before we left Texas last winter, we made arrangements to host a Heartland Meet in Greet here at Southern Oaks.  It was a gamble to see how many would come for the event.  Today it was a great success. 55 people came and there was alot of food and fun and laughs. We hired a band to come and play for a couple of hours and everyone had a good time.  It reminded me of the good ole days back in Wisconsin when we would have our pig roasts and we had over 100 people coming to eat and dance.  The only thing that was missing was the campfire.  No campfires in Texas, there are enough of wild fires..   So, a good time was had by all.  Now, some are looking forward to another one next year.

We had 55 Heartlander's attend and we had The Winter Texan Band come and play for us.

Everyone had a great time and alot had asked if we are going to have another one next year..

February  21st  Thursday
Today is a Rest and Relax day....  I had some other fun things planned but I cancelled them due to lack of interest.

February  22nd   Friday
It was 64 degrees at 7 AM when we got up, wind coming from the North.  Wish that they would keep in north. Dan and I had some errands to run in the morning and then we had a dinner for Heartland at San Juan Mexican on Port Aransas..

We had 24 people and I have to say that the food was good, service was great and food came out hot and in a timely matter, and their margarita's were good.

Then for some of us we went for dessert at Dairy Queen for dessert..

February  23rd   Saturday
Up early again and my foot was acting up again with the pain.  I hobbled around and sat with my leg elevated and had the heated throw on it,    I decided that I would bit a bullet and go to Paws and Taws with Eileen for  their Arts and Craft show.  I had my cane and that helped me a lot. There was a lot of the same items at the other shows we had been to. Then we stopped on the way back to a gift shop to look at their shirts, then on to Bealls, and then to Wal-mart to pick up a few items I needed.  I made dinner for the 4 of us and I did not have any dessert so we went to Dairy Queen later for dessert (Ice Cream)..

February  24th   Sunday   Race Day.....Daytona  500

51 degrees this morning and it is foggy around the Coastal Bend.. Made some Poppers and Dan made little wieners wrapped in bacon and rolled in brown sugar.  Eileen and Ron came over and they brought crackers and cheese and some other goodies.. We watched the race and Danica did not win, but she did a good job keeping up with the Big Boys.

Another week gone and now, it is a countdown to weeks when we leave.. Where did the time go....

February 11th thru February 17th 2013

February 11th    Monday
It was overcast this morning and we had some light rain..  We had breakfast at The Bakery with The HOC and then when we got back, Ron and Eileen and us went to Corpus Christi shopping. We had coupons for Bed Bath and Beyond, Hobby Lobby and Joann Fabrics. We ate a lunch at Jason's Deli.  We then went to Sam's Club and got alot of stuff for our Heartland's Meet and Greet next week.
When we got back home, Dan defrosted our refrigerator which was needed.. It was a busy day.

February 12th    Tuesday
In the 50's this morning and rain..
On the way to Port Aransas the sun came out. It sure was nice to see the sun and have the warmth of the sun.
A few of us met for dinner at Beaches before the Mardi Gras Parade in Port Aransas.  We had a long wait on the ferry so we were the last ones there for dinner, but we finished dinner before the parade started.

When we got back to Aransas Pass, Ron's truck automatically went towards Dairy Queen for dessert.

February 13th    Wednesday
I guess I can't sleep late anymore.  I was up at 5 PM. Made myself a cup of hot tea, and watched the morning news.

February 14th    Thursday              Happy Valentines Day
Nice Sunny Morning..   Having a Heartland Owners Club Valentine Lunch at Port Royal.  Nice Day, Great Fun.

Ron and Eileen went golfing with Ralph and Barb. They had a good time and are looking forward to going again.

February 15th    Friday
Cool this morning, Dan, Ron and Gene went fishing on The North Jetty.  Later in the morning, Eileen and I went to the Beach on the North Jetty for a few hours.  The first time I had been there, and I was so disappointed that beach was so full of plastic bottles and debris that was blown in from the Gulf.  I had heard that there was debris, but not until you see it for yourself did it hit home.   The winds picked up and it was windy, Good thing I brought a sweatshirt.  Eileen and I both picked up 2 bags of plastic and brought them back to the mainland.

We didn't even make a dent, but we did our share. When we got back home, we took our dogs for a walk and then rested until we went out to Pepito's for dinner. Met Gene and Linda there.
Got back home and put legs up and relaxed for the rest of the evening.

February 16th    Saturday
This morning it was 48 degrees this morning.  Going to Craft show and then to Market days. It turned out to be a wonderful day.  Bought a Boa at the craft show and seen an awesome trike motorcycle.. Then we went to Rockport to Market days. Lots of Vendors and I bought a Desert Rose plant, A bag of Kettle Corn, and a bottle of Texas Hot Sauce..  Then we went to Alice Faye's for lunch.. We just love those fish sandwiches.. I can not eat all that bread, so I just had fish and Onion Rings. Came home and took Mr. Herbie out for a walk and crashed  for awhile....  Had Ron and Eileen over for dinner tonight.  Dan made Chix legs on grill and baked an apple pie.  We discussed what when we are going to go back to Mexico and when we are going to go to San Antonio..  6 more weeks and we are heading back north.

February 17th    Sunday

It was 51 degrees this morning and it is suppose to be a nice and sunny day.  We went to HEB to get groceries that is needed for The Meet and Greet (Heartland Owners Club) this coming Weds.

We were suppose to go to the Beach and sit in the sun for awhile later, and that did not happen. It would of been  nice to get out and enjoy the day.

We have a busy week ahead of us, and will be glad when this is over with.  Just wish the weather would co-operate. Soon we will have to think about packing up and heading NORTH..
