August 26th thru Sept 6th 2013

Monday 26th
Lots of rain during the wee hours of the morning.. Some areas had it worse than others.
Warm and humid weather.. Can't imagine not having air conditioning...  I made a quick trip to town this morning to have my hair trimmed up, and then I stopped at the grocery store for a few items.

This afternoon, The Garden club was meeting at my friends Eileen home to make concrete leaf art.
It was alot of fun, and we will see what our leave art will look like at the end of the week when the concrete dries.
We had grilled hot dogs afterwards..

Dan spent most of the day doing modifications on the new 5th wheel.. Just making it more user friendly for us.

August 27th  Tuesday
1 year Anniversary of my surgery...

Woke up this morning to light rain and warm and humid weather.   Today our Heartland friends from Wisconsin came for a visit.  Jerry and Jackie and Sadie were camping in Ishpeming  with the Heartlander's.. Dan had forgot his fireplace tools when we left and they brought them with.  Dan could not believe that he forgot them.. I made lunch for us and of course Sadie and Herbie had their treats also.
Dan worked on the new Landmark yesterday. He finished installing the tray in the storage area.

Now he has to put the items back in.  He has a list of things that he wants to change or add.
I have been playing Words with Friends on Facebook and that is something new for me.

August 28th  Weds
Another warm morning.  I decided that today is going to be a chill day..  I settled in my chair with my phones, books and remote right next to me..  Dan went outside to finish putting his stuff back in the trailer storage area.  Our friends Jay and Stella were out riding around and called and was wondering if they could come out.  They brought lunch, what a treat. Chicken, potato salad and coleslaw.  We had a nice visit and talked about where they are headed to after they leave Michigan.
They are Heartland Regional Directors and are on the Rally circuit for the summer.
Later I did a few loads of laundry.  In the evening I had to watch Duck Dynasty.. I am hooked.. I watched it a few weeks ago and I laughed so hard.. On Sundays I watch the re-runs and Weds it is on again..  It is on  A&E.. If you need some humor, you gotta watch it...

Something else I got into is Word with Friends on Facebook.. I  didn't think I would like it, but it is not to bad. I am still green with it, so I hope my friends are patient...

August 29th  Thursday
It is cooler today, the humidity has diminished. Dan and I went to Marquette this morning as he wanted to go to Menard's and get some lumber to make some shelves in out closets in the new trailer.
After we got home, Dan went to work on adding another water filtering system in the trailer.

He finished putting his stuff in the below storage area, and organizing everything. Looks good.

Friday Aug 20th
Up early and got ready to head to Escanaba along with Eileen and Molly.  It is Fluff and Puff time for Herbie and Molly..  We like that as once we drop them off we go shopping to Joanne Fabrics, Elmer's Food store and Wal-mart.  Oh yes there is lunch also.  It takes about 2 hours so we plan out our time..
We went on our Friday night fish fry at Jack's in Rapid River. Then we (us and the Erickson's) go to Dairy Flo for ice cream. Something did not set well with me and I did not feel good when I got home.
I made a cup of tea and settled into my chair and thought of what I was going to do tomorrow.

Sat August 31st
A dreary morning and not a busy day.  I had not felt too good, so I just took a day to rest and I read my book.  Later in the day I went and cleaned out some dresser draws.
Dan was back working on his modifications on the new 5th wheel.  He moved the clothes rods to be more accessible  and then he made shelves in the closets areas.

Each closet has room for a storage bin in it.
Dan moved the Dyson into the laundry room/closet.. this will be used for jackets and etc.

I think that it will work out just fine for us.  Then he went in the kitchen pantry and removed the shelving and the sliding tray and he is making full shelves in the pantry which will be more practical for us seeing that we live in it for approx. 5-6 months.
removed sliding shelves and will be installing full shelves

I made some homemade Italian beef for dinner along with alot of pepper and onions.  Everything smelled good.  Yummy and we had fresh corn on the cob that I bought yesterday from a roadside stand.

Sunday Sept 1st....

Heavy rain and thunder and lighting came around 8 am and Dan was out there early cutting the grass in front of the house before the rains came.  Mr. Herbie went and hid and he was scared.  We did not do much today, just sat around and relaxed and watched the skies change.

Monday  Sept 2nd
Cool morning which called for warmer clothes... I was feeling a bit better today, Dan has been out finishing up modifications that he wanted to do on trailer..

The rolling shelves that were in the pantry, Dan hung up in the salon (living room) area.  One on each side of the slide.  Nice area to put knick knacks or small picture frames.

Tuesday   Sept 3rd
I got up early and made breakfast and Herbie and I went out to do some yard work.  I went to get the garden tractor and it did not start.. huh  dead battery.   While the battery was charging I went to the back garden and started pulling some weeds and moving some rocks aside.  When the tractor was done charging I took Herbie for a ride through the woods, which he thoroughly enjoyed.   Then I went and picked up all my weeds I pulled and took then in the woods to rest.  While I was on the trail, I noticed a nice white golf ball on the path.  I am still wondering how it got there.
It was a nice evening and we went to Concert in the park.. Southwest winds and the band was a good one.  50's & 60's  Classical.. Great night..

Weds    Sept 4th
I ran to town to do some errands  While I was gone, Dan installed the new glass window in the door that we purchased at the Heartland Rally in June.  We just love it.  It is an eye catcher when you look at the side of the trailer.

Dan had also installed a fan in the refrigerator.  He had heard good things about having this fan and he ordered one.  It is working well and the temp is set on #3 and and temp inside refrigerator is 37.. We will see what happens when we have a full refrigerator full of food.

Duck Dynasty night, and I finished up dishes and cleaning kitchen just in time to watch a favorite.. Duck Dynasty.. What a HOOT.....Dan spent his evening trying to figure out why his computer would not print wireless on the printer that is in the trailer...  After a few hours, he realized that it is set up for our wireless card...

Thursday  Sept 5th
Cool this morning, and it is sweatshirt weather.  Dan finished staining his blocks for leveling.

He also checked the tires to make sure that they had 110 lbs of air in them, and also tightened up the valve stems.  There were a few that weren't as tight as he wanted them.

Dan also put a shelf in one of the cabinets by the TV.. an extra shelf for manuals and etc.

Dan had also made a small box that fits in one of the pantry shelves for spices...

Well it looks like there isn't much left to do.  In a week we are heading out for a week and accumulating ourselves to the new rig. Making sure that everything is working properly before we leave for the winter..

Life is good............

Friday  Sept 6th
Sunny today and Dan is getting his tractor out and will be spreading gravel that he bought about a month ago for the area by the back barn, and then he will be moving some smaller rocks.  I have some projects that I have to get done.  Then the weekend is upon us.

What Is Happening At Halvorsen's Hideway

July 22nd    Monday
I was up early and headed to Marquette so I could make my appointment with my doctor.  My mother went along with me.  She went to the Walk In Clinic as she is still having pain from her fall.  Came to find out that she had a fracture from her fall over the weekend.  The ER that she went to did not even see that.

Then afterwards, I did my shopping that I had to do.. We were gone 6 hours and when we got back I was tired.

July 25th  Thursday

Cooler day and we picked up Eileen and went to Munising to a garage sale and then went to The Bear Trap for lunch. Had pasties and soup and it was oh so-o-o good.  Mom had a hair appointment
Dan had been out cutting wood that we have had stock piled out on the side of the barn.. He worked on it for a few days. It was alot of work and tiring for him..

July 26th Friday

Rain Rain in the morning and it rained all day.  Did not do much, stayed home, Mom read her book, and crossword puzzles.  Dan prepared a fish fry for dinner. Ron and Eileen and Molly came for dinner also. It was a laid back day.*****************************************************************

Another month is gone and I still haven't been on track with my blog... It has been just so crazy and hardly had a chance to unwind.

Here are some more pictures and news..
My mother was still visiting with us and she got to meet alot of our friends,
Heartland Friends Jay and Stella from the Houston Texas area and who are The Heartland Owners Group Regional Director came and stayed with us.  I was nice to see them and have them with us.D
Dan had made his smoked ribs for Jay and Stella..  Afterwards we had a nice campfire in our back yard.  The waterfall was on, what more could one ask for.

Dan and I and Jay and Stella headed to Lake Delton for the Wisconsin Heartland Rally on August 7th..As usual it was a great Rally and saddened to find out that Tom and Gerry are stepping down as Wisconsin State Chapter Leaders. They are going full time and traveling the country.  We  had a pig roast on Saturday night along with lots of other great foodie time. It was great to see everyone as usual.

Minnesota Chapter Leaders Tom and Kathy Ireland

After the Wisc Rally Dan and I headed to Elkhart Indiana to pick up our new 2014 Heartland Landmark, Key Largo... We got such a good deal on our old Landmark, plus a very generous rebate from Heartland.  So, this is the last one for sure.

2014  Landmark Key Largo

We stayed longer in Elkhart as we wanted to make sure we did not have any issues that needed attention.  Mr. Herbie is quite not sure what to think of all this, but he will adjust.

Our next Rally is August 21st and that is only about 60 miles from home. Prior to leaving for the Rally Rex and Stacy Hastey from Oklahoma came and stayed over night. Dan made his famous ribs for dinner and we also invited our good friends Ron and Eileen over for dinner.

Herbie sure has had his share of friends come and visit this summer..

We are home for awhile so we can rest up and Dan can do some changes on our new Key Largo, and then we are off to The Soo Locks Campground for a RnR.. It is just so peaceful sitting on the shore watching those big ships come through.
