November 2,3,4,5,6, 2011 ~~ 1st Week As A Winter Texan~~

Well this is the 1st week as a Winter Texan.  I decided to write on my Blog once a week instead of each day or other day..  Grab your coffee and hope you enjoy..

NOV. 2nd   Weds.

We got through the 1st day of arrival, Dan gets up early and gets the coffee ready and I have been getting up shortly after and had my coffee and watch the daylight appear and wake up.  Today we went to Portland and picked up our mail and then we went and stopped and visited Gene and Linda and Kolby at The Palms RV.  Nice to see them again and Linda gave me my (Swedish Weaving) Afghan that she finished for me. Oh it is so pretty.. I had gotten the  material about 2 years ago and just did not get it as I was trying to do it myself... Maybe some day it will click on how to do it..

We went home and had Happy Hour with our neighbors and then made dinner and sat outside for awhile.

When we arrived the site we are on was just completed in Sept and they had grass seed on the dirt between the sites.  Well, Dan started watering the seed and few pieces that had come up.. others in this row have been watering faithfully and their grass is growing in leaps and bounds. We want our little front grass to grow also so Dan is watering faithfully also.

Nov. 3rd   Thursday
Dan went and had coffee with the boys, they usually meet at What-a-burger or the Donut Palace..
I went to get a haircut, it needed a trim and I think that the warm weather makes hair grow faster..
When I got back we went to Lowes and Home Depot looking for a trip-pod to mount the satellite dish one.  Lowes and Home Depot does not carry them anymore and we found one at Radio Shack.
We then headed back home and stopped again at Lowes to look at vertical blinds for the back window of the trailer.  We got some information and when we got back home Dan read the information and did some accurate measurements. We went and had our Happy hour  and had to leave early as we were meeting some of of our friends we met last year for dinner at The Butter Churn.  Dawn and John, Dick and Pat, Fritz, Rob and Kay.  We had our hugs and went and filled out plates with homemade food.
We had our laughs and jokes and shared our stories from the summer.  Time to go home with bellies full.  Dan and I sat out for a while..  Herbies loves sitting out with us, but when he wants to go to bed he wants to go, and he expects me to go also..

Nov. 4th  Friday

Dan and Ron went for coffee this morning and he was home in time for DIRECT TV to come and set us up with a new dish we brought a receiver from home.  It was nice having the Direct TV as I like to watch Nascar and The Cooking Channel.  He had a hard time setting up the channels but he got it.
I did not plan anything for dinner so we went to The Pizza Hut.. Last year it was a standing Thursday Night supper and then we would meet other friends Nancy and Jim from Ransom Road and  visited with them.

Nov. 5th  Saturday
Nice warm weather again this morning, Dan sure enjoys waking up early and enjoying coffee outside while it gets light out..   Well today was a day that I dread.  We had to go Grocery shopping as the refrig was pretty bare and we didn't even have any bread for toast... No milk for cereal.  Now that is bad.   So we went to Portland to HEB, we really like that store.  So we got some groceries and then came home put groceries away and went for a sandwich..  We drove around and got back in time for happy hour. Afterwards Dan made steaks for dinner and they were really good..

Nov. 6th  Sunday
Another nice day out.. Made breakfast and got ready for the day...  Just hung around and waited for the NASCAR race to start.  Gee, I sure miss my friend Donna who followed Nascar as close as she followed their financial portfolio.. We use to talk about the race and we have not done that since she passed away about 3 years ago..  During the halfway point, I said to Dan that I would buy a Dairy Queen Blizzard if he wanted, and off the 3 of us went.. Came back and there was 39 more laps to go. Was glad that Stewart won.
Tried to find the Packer Game on but it was blocked from local stations.  They did win YIP-P-P-P-E-E-E-E..... Later that evening we ordered vertical blinds from Lowes online.  I had conversation with another Heartland owner who had removed their pull down day/night shades and replaced theirs with vertical, seen a picture of theirs and that is when I decided that is what I wanted.   They should be here in a week maybe 2.  I can't wait....

They plan on adding another 100 sites next to this area.
