April 2nd to April 8th, 2012~~We Are Heading Home~~~

We are heading home and our friends Gene and Linda,  from Owensboro, KY decided that they wanted to follow us.

It is always nice to have someone travel with you. They followed us to Texas the first time we went, about 6 years ago.

April 2nd      Monday
We left Southern Oaks at 7 AM and met up with Gene and Linda on the Highway by the park.  We stopped at Buckee's in Wharton for a potty stop and to check out their store and gift shop. WOW, it was nice.. Seeing I bought so much this winter, on the way back down this fall, we are going to have to stop and I can buy some of the pretty jewelry they had.  We are headed for Marksville, LA and staying at the Paragon Casino RV Park.  What a really nice park. We stayed there 2 nights.  As we were getting closer we seen black clouds and hoping that they were not following us. After we arrived and signed in and set up, we had a Happy Hour and then afterwards we hopped the casino bus and went for dinner.. The Paragon is a BIG casino and has alot of eateries. We ate at the Market Buffet.  Played the machines, broke even.  YIP-P-E-E-E!!

April 3rd       Tuesday
It was a nice crisp and sunny morning.  We went for breakfast and then stopped at Walmart for a few things. Came back and sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. We had a Happy Hour and then went over to the casino for dinner again and then went in the casino to win our fortune.  LOL
When we got back we got things put away so we could leave early in the morning.

April 4th     Wednesday
We left early for Tupelo, MS  we had 409 miles to go.  Thanks to my brother who is a OTR trucker he put us on some really nice roads. No we did not go on The Trace - Dan's truck does not like going 55 mph on open roads. We arrived at the Trace State Park at 5 PM.  Set up and had Happy Hour, Gene fixed hamburgers and then we called it a night. Everyone was tired..

April 5th     Thursday
It was light rain today at Trace State park. Time to go out for Breakfast at a restaurant in Tupelo.  Drove past this Phaeton Motorhome on the way.  On the way back from breakfast we stopped and seen it and called the number on the For Sale sign.  OH MY, what a sweetie it was.  10K miles 2007, last used 2008, was in storage, gorgeous inside, in excellent shape,  Gene and Linda are in the market for a new one, and sure wish they would get it. The said that they have to sell theirs first.. Anyone interested in a really good shape Pace Arrow Vision, contact me.. They kept it in good shape.
Got back to Campground and sat around and enjoyed the day. Dan made ribs and BBQ rice, I made a pecan pie.. Got things organized and packed up for an early departure to Tennessee..

April 6th    Friday

Leaving Trace State Park, 7 AM, cool and the sun was coming up over the lake.

Herbie, patiently waiting for us to get on the road
Got on the road and the roads we were on were oh so nice.  Thanks Dave for the good directions.  Once we got into Tennessee at exit 24 we stopped at a truck stop called "The Tennessean"  Dave said that is a must stop at.  Good home cooking and he was right..It was yummy. Arrived at Twin Lake Campground and Charlies Catfish Farm and restaurant at 5 PM.  The campground is behind the Catfish farm and restaurant.
Dan set-up and I made coffee, when he was done we sat in our chairs and then we napped for a hour or so...  When we woke, I made some soup and that was all we needed.
It was a long day......

April 7th   Saturday

Enjoyed the day.  Got up and went to pick up my mother and we went out for breakfast. Then I had to go to Wal-mart and get some dog shampoo. When we got back by my mothers home I gave Herbie a bath.  We just hung around the house and my mom took Herbie for a couple of walks and showed him off to her friends. My mom had made Lasagna for dinner which was really good. In all of my years of cooking I have never made Lasagna. Maybe I should try huh... That seems to be a classic dinner.
After dinner we came back home and I got my jammies on and relaxed... Herbie was exhausted also..  Dan fell asleep  in his chair.  What a life, eh!!!

April 8th   Sunday    (EASTER SUNDAY)  (ANNV OF MY FATHERS DEATH)

It is 56 degrees this morning here in Cookeville.  It is so quiet and peaceful. Today is 19 years since my fathers passing.  I went to Church this morning with my mother. What a beautiful church she belongs to.  One of the traditions that they do on Easter is make an Easter Cross.  They have a wooden cross wrapped in chicken wire, and on Easter morning everyone brings a fresh flower and places it on the cross, in memory of a love one(s).  Then after the last service it was placed out in front of the church signifying that Christ has arisen and is alive. Very touching.....

Then behind the alter they had a Easter Lily Tree.  People who wanted to donate Lilies did so and then they were placed in the plant hanger.. My mom donated 2 and after the service she picked them up and gave one to me..

After church I brought mother back to our 5th wheel and I made a lunch and showed here some of the things that I have been doing.

Then we took a ride yesterday up in the hills and down in the hollers..  I can just imagine what it looks like in the fall.  Then we went out and had dinner and we took her back home.. We came back and relaxed....

This is how Dan and Herbie relax.

~~~It was a busy week, but life is good~~~
