January 15th - January 22nd 2012 ~~Southern Oaks Weekly Re-Cap~~

This has been a quiet week for us.
The weather has been changing almost daily. It has been cold and snow storms at home this past week.
We hope that your week was good, and that next week will be even greater..

January 16th     Monday

50 degrees @ 7AM     Dan went for his morning coffee with the guys. The weather was suppose to be nice and warm and sunny today, so we decided to go to the National Seashore for some sun.. We packed up everything we needed, stopped at Subway for sandwiches and off we went.  We got down there and it was windy and cool and no sun.  We drove a few miles down the beach and parked and had our lunch and watched the waves come crashing into shore.  We decided to turn around and head back to the Island and we seen some parasailer, so we pulled down a access road and parked and watched them.. Now that is some talent to hang on to the sail and balance yourself on the board and ride the waves. We decided that it was not for us.
Went to the Inter coastal and parked by the marina and watched the dolphins, thinking that some ships would come on thru.  Not today.. The sun was out and I took Mr. Herbie for a walk so he could sniff.  It is unbelievable how excited those dogs get with good sniffs.  I gave him a yank to move on and he turned around and gave he a look, like, what are you doing to me.
We made a breakfast for dinner..  Yummy French Toast and Bacon...

January 17th      Tuesday
60 degrees today and cooler, winds from the North..  My back was bothering me today so I took it easy and Dan found something to do..
January  18th    Wednesday
Cloudy this morning and a bit cool, today was the day that my friend Shirley and I planned on going to Corpus Christi for the day..  We left at 8:45 am. Went to Kohls as I have a 30% off coupon... then Academy Sports, (I bought an umbrella for my outside chair) World Market, looking for cardamon and they were out of it.   :'>(     They had the best cardamon there a few weeks ago when I I made my Yulekage... If you haven't been to World Market, it is an interesting place to go..
Then we went on to Marshall's.  There is no TJMAX in Corpus . Not much there that interested me, of course I was getting tired and my feet were hurting... Oh yes we did stop for lunch at The Cracker Barrel... Haven't been there in over a year and it was good to go to..    Dinner tonight was hot dogs and beans.... That is good once and a while.  well, just had hot dogs and I did not have a can opener.  I through out the one that we had as it wouldn't work right.  Forget to get a new one..   Things like that happen ..................
January  19th     Thursday
Looks like the sun is coming out this morning..   We dropped Dan's Sport jacket and pants off at the cleaners.    I had a Dr. appointment this morning, and of course we went to Kohls again.  Dan bought a few things and I didn't see anything that I couldn't live without.    Went over to Sears and bought a new spread for the bed.
Came home and visited with a few people and then Dan and I went out for Thursday Night Pizza Hut Night...  Our friends Dan and Dayna met us there.  Had a good time.
January   20th    Friday
A quiet day again,  Dan went for coffee with the boys and then they went over to What-a-Burger to meet up with a bunch of other guys from Ransom Road..  I took my coffee and walked over to Shirley's unit and sat out and Koffee-Klutched.   It was suppose to be beach weather according to the weather man.. I am sure that the sun was shining somewhere though.   It was a smoked sausage and rice night for dinner..

January 21st    Saturday

It was a foggy and muggy morning.  There were doughnuts and coffee this morning in the clubhouse.. Quite a few attended.  Afterwards we went to The Drifters RV Resort for a Craft and Car Show.  Ralph and Barb went with us.    Met people from Ransom Road RV and Aransas Bay RV..  It was nice seeing everyone and visiting with them.  Dan and I both agree that we made the best move by coming to Southern Oaks RV...
We like it here...Afterwards, we drove to Rockport and went through a few other campgrounds.  This is Ralph and Barb's 1st year going away for the winter and coming to Texas.. After driving through some of the older parks and seen how close they are, we both agreed that we are at the best park, even though the Community building is not completed..  We had been told that it will be done by March 1st..  The people are so friendly.  WE ate lunch at Alice Fayes and they had not been there before and we had a really delicious fish sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries.  Yummy... Came back and lounged around and watch NCIS....    Dinner was:  bacon, eggs and toast for Dan and I had a can of Chicken Noodle soup... that was all I could handle..
January 22nd   Sunday
The fog came on in early this morning and it is humid out... A cool front is suppose to come in later and blow the humidity out...  Not much going on today...  I do not feel to much up to par.   Dan is defrosting the freezer... We will be activating our new broadband card.  I have some magazines that I want to go through and take to the clubhouse.  Herbie is going to want to go for his walk and then if it is nice out we will go to Happy Hour , and I am going to make Chicken drumsticks, rice and veggies for dinner..  i am sending this out early seeing that I have got it done..
