July 2nd to July 8th 2012 ~~Week of the 4th of July~~

Happy Birthday America -- We Love You!!!

July 2nd    Monday
It was a beautiful morning.  lake Superior was like a Mill Pond..  Sun was shining.
Dan, Ralph and Jim, took a ride into Isphmening to RV store.  Ralph bought a Antenna jack, Dan was looking for a wire harness for his new brake controller.  It was great to just chill out and relax after a hectic week after we came back from our trip to Wyoming.  We sat out in the shade and under the awning.  Lou and Jim had dinner for us.  Dan got a fire started and there was a nice sunset and a full moon.  Everyone had fires burning and sounded like they were having a good time also.

Full Moon Shining Through Tall Pines
Storms are predicted for later tonight and into the morning..  Time for bed!
July 3rd    Tuesday
There was a storm that came through last night and early AM.  I did not hear it, but around 2:30 am Dan said he was up watching the storm. In the morning at daylight the lake was calm.  Ralph and Barb and the Boys took a ride to Grand Marais. We just stayed around watching the Lake with boaters. The temps were starting to rise.  I took Herbie out into the Lake and walked into the lake a short way and set Herbie down and he swam back and and stayed his distance from me....  Jim & Lou and Dan and I took a ride into town for a sandwich and then stopped at The Falling Rock for an ice cream. Took Herbie on the beach again and this time Barb put him in the lake again and he did good again swimming back..  Later Jim & Lou and Dan & I took a ride over to the casino for dinner.  They have the Best Wet Burrito. We both could not finish it so we brought half of it home.  Dan built a campfire and we sat and watched the sun come down.

Bright Sunset

It gets dark later.. When it gets dark it is about 10:45 PM... There has been a full moon.  Herbie was tired and wanted to come in and go to bed...

July 4th    Wednesday

Another beautiful morning,
Lake Superior form our Campsite
We had a waffle breakfast at DeVoes site. These are his special healthy good waffles..  We also had bacon and sausage and watermelon slices..
Jim and Louella DeVoe

After breakfast we got ready to go to the Parade. We have to get there early to get our spot.  The parade started at 12:30.

Munising Viet Nam Veterans

This year was a long parade and if I must say, we have had better ones. The last vehicle was at 1:45.. We headed back to the campground.   Down at Bayshore park was where all the action was. Games, Vendors, Food and Music..
We had eaten our dinner around 4PM and then we left for the park to get our spot for the fireworks at the lakefront. Lots of people have been there already.  Around 7PM they canceled the fireworks as there was a bad storm coming. So we packed up and headed back to the campsite. Dan made coffee and we sat outside watching the skies turn dark and then the wind picked up, and then the rains came.   We have a pontoon ride scheduled to tomorrow, Just wondering if we will be able to go?   Well time to go to bed and let it rain and thunder and we will see what tomorrow brings.

July 5th    Thursday
Early in the morning the winds were kicking up again, it was lighting and raining.
We were schedule to go on a Pontoon ride this morning, and Ralph cancelled it.  It was a good idea as even though the weather said that it was going to be nice, it would be out luck that once we were out on the lake it would rain... Oh well there is always next year again.  The sun is out now and there are a few people walking on the beach.
July 6th    Friday
Up at 7 am and got cleaned up and dressed, had my coffee and went out to say Good Bye to Lou and Jim.  They were getting outside stuff put away and hooked up.  It was so nice having them with us.  They really enjoyed the 4th festivities again in Munising this year. Gave them hugs and told them to stay well.  We then had some breakfast and then got our stuff hooked up and we headed home.  Ralph and Barb, was ready also and they followed us home and are staying in our drive until tomorrow when they leave for Traverse City picking cherries.
I made some hot dogs for lunch and then we headed out Marquette way to show Barb and Ralph some sites. Then we went to Lakenenland Art Sculptural park.  That is an awesome park.  So many people have so many natural talents.  We went to Foggy's in Christmas for a Friday Fish Fry.  It was yummy.... Came back to the house for coffee and I will dish out some ice cream....  Good Night..
July 7th    Saturday
It stormed last night again and as usual I did not hear it... Got up at 7AM and got ready for the day..  Had my cup of coffee soon Ralph and Barb came in for coffee and Breakfast and coffee also. We enjoyed our breakfast on the porch, while the dogs enjoyed the outside. They are leaving this morning and heading to Traverse City, MI for the cherry Festival... The Dogs, Blackjack, Bailey and Bently enjoyed running around the yard and checking out those squirrels...

I think that I am going to relax and enjoy the day... I might go out and pull some weeds from the gardens.

July 8th    Sunday
Ron stopped by this morning for coffee and brought a newspaper for us.  I had made blueberry muffins.  Today is a very nice day out, sunny and not humid and going to be in the 80's..  Dan decided to work on the wood picnic table he made a few years ago.  It needed to be sanded down and have the fiberglass re-applied.
This table is made from Hard Maple logs off of our property
which Dan made.

So he was working on that.  I went up and got Molly, Eileen was downstate and Ron was going to go on a bike ride, and I didn't want Molly to be home by herself that long.  She enjoys playing with Herbie so much and he looks forward to having her here.  Of course it is a game of take away chews from each other.  There can be 3 chew sticks on the floor and Herbie wants all 3 of them and Molly races to get one.

After dinner we took Molly back home and visited with Ron and Eileen.  This is an end to a busy, but fun week.
Life is back to normal now...at least for another 4 weeks.
