November 26th to December 2, 2012

November 26th   Monday
It was foggy this morning and the sun came out and burned the fog away.  I hobbled out of bed and made it to the bathroom and down stairs to my chair.  I believe that the foot isn't as swollen as it was.  When Dan was  done getting cleaned up and dressed he came on down and put an ice pack on my foot and made me some coffee.  He took Mr. Herbie out for his walk and he will be going to breakfast with the Heartland group this morning.  I sat all day with my foot up.  Carrie MacDonald from Minnesota stopped by to visit with me. Rowan Camp stopped over this afternoon to discuss his band playing for the Heartland Meet and Greet in Feb. I sat at the table for a while today also and made a necklace.  Dan went out for Happy Hour and when he got back made dinner of Tilapia. It was good , but I had a problem eating again.  We settled down for our Monday night comedies.. 2 Broke Girls and Mike and Molly.

November 27th   Tuesday
61 degrees this morning and it is cool out.  Today my foot feet feels alot better.  I think that if I do one more day of ice and keeping my foot elevated should really help.  Well, I wanted to have a meeting with my HOC committee about the Meet and Greet that we will be having in February. So, seeing that I was able to walk better, we met in Rockport at The Beachhouse for lunch.  It was nice being able to get out after being in a chair for 5 days.

November 28th   Wednesday
50 degrees this morning and cool out.    Dan and Gene are going to go fishing, Once they get to the jetty boat and see what the wind is like they will make a decision if they will go on the jetty. The boat runs every hour, so if the winds are too cool and they decide that they aren't going to fish, then they have to wait an hour for the boat to come back. We, Gene and Linda and Dan and I, were suppose to go to the valley today and Then to the flea market and then over to Mexico on Thursday morning to get teeth cleaned and a walk through one of the market stores and pick up some meds.  With my foot being not completely healed we decided to wait for a couple of weeks.  There is alot of walking.

Went to Mexican Taqueri for Enchilada's. Gene and Linda went with us. Then went to Dairy Queen for a dessert.

November 29th   Thursday
Wow, I over slept this morning and my whole routine is off wack...  My foot is alot better today.  I was having breakfast this morning when my friend Susan stopped by to see how I was doing.  I was hobbling around and my foot is lots better.  Took a few loads over to the laundry in the park.
Today I got some of my beads out and was playing around, thinking that I would make something. In the afternoon we went grocery shopping. We bought some steamed shrimp and had them for a quick dinner with some rice.

November 30th   Friday
It was a warmer morning today and we had the rest of the laundry to do. So we left early and got it done, and then we went to Portland and got the mail.  After we put the laundry away, it was time to go and meet our Heartland Friends for lunch.  We had a Heartland Owner from Idaho parked next to us and we invited them to join us.  We went to Trout Street in Port Aransas.  We ate out on the porch over looking the marina.

The food was good and the company was GREAT.  Afterwards we drove around and showed our neighbors a few sites and we headed back to the RV park.

December 1st     Saturday
It was a nice morning and got going early as I wanted to go to the Pioneer RV park for their craft show.  Gene and Linda met us there. The craft show was really nice and I bought a few things.  I love those scrubbies and left my spares at home, so I bought a couple of those, I also bought some knitted dish clothes, as I should learn how to knit so I could make my own..and I also bought a hot pad in the shape of a sandal(thong)..  We sat there and had a cup of coffee and visited and seen other people that we know.  Then we went to the Island Cafe for a sandwich.  I had a bowl of soup, and the rest had fish and chips.  Wow that was good fish.  There are new owners and the prices have changed.  I guess it is a vote that we will go back for their fish and chips.

When we got back home our friends Ralph and Barb had arrived, and we stopped by and said hi.  We were happy to see them.
Herbie is resting in his new bed with his baby

Later, Dan and I were going back to Port Aransas for the Boat Parade that started the
Christmas festivities in the area. We asked if Ralph and barb wanted to join us and Ralph said that he would go as Barb had to fee the dogs and she wanted to relax and unwind. Last year we went to Aransas Pass boat parade, but this one surpassed last years, even though I expected more.

After the parade we stopped for a bite to eat at the Mexico Taqueria.  By the time we got home I was ready to get jammies on and settle in.

December 2nd    Sunday   ~~ FISH FRY DINNER ~~

Another morning that I had to get up early and get dressed.  Omar was coming to was the 5th wheel. I had some prep work to do also as we were having a fish fry with some of the red snapper (RED'S) that Dan and Gene had caught,  We invited Ralph and Barb also..  Dan had hush puppies, baked beans, fish, and the others brought a dish and dessert.  What a feast..  Everyone was full, with smiles on their face  and left with a doggie bag.

Nov. 19th   Monday
It was a nice morning. Dan and Gene went out fishing on the North Jetty.  I got dressed and went for a walk and then came home and made some cookies.  Those pre-made dough that Pillsbury has out in the stores are really neat.  I cut the tube in half and then cut into quarters, then into slices and took a slice rolled it in a ball and baked.  I got 4 dozen peanut butter cookies. I also cleaned out some more emails from my in box and saved or printed the ones I wanted.  Dan got back around 3 PM.  They only got fish, but like Dan said that it was fun, watching the ships and the dolphins and being in the sun.  After he got everything put away he sat in his chair with a glass of ice tea and took a nap.
When he woke up I suggested that we go to one of the Taqueria's for Mexican.  I like the cheese enchilada's now, easy to digest and good price.  When we arrived we seen our friends Jim and Nancy from Milbrook, So. Dak. We would see them every Thursday at Pizza Hut and were invited to sit with their group.  We had a nice visit.

Came back home in time for our favorite sit-coms..  2 Broke Girls and Mike and Molly..  That is our Monday night laughs..
Mr. Herbie is running around looking for something and we can't figure out what it is.  Who Knows ???  Hope your evening was relaxing.

Nov. 20th   Tuesday
It was in the high 50's this morning. Got ready this morning and Dan and I went to Portland to the grocery store... Picked up what I needed for my dish to pass for Thanksgiving.   I decided that I was going to make a big pan of stuffing to go with the turkey.  I also picked up a few other things that I needed in the pantry.  Then we stopped at Wal-mart as I was looking for a comfy bed for Mr. Herbie. Couldn't find one at that Wal-mart. Dan picked up some fishing tackle.   When we got back home I helped unload and put away the groceries and then I went and had my nails done.

Came home and then Dan and I had some shrimp that we bought and had boiled at the store.  They were so yummy... Nice big shrimp... on sale for $4.97 a lb.  I think that I need to go and get some more and freeze them.

We had a meet and dinner with our HOC friends at The Bakery Cafe in Port Aransas.. That is one of the favorite places on the Island.
There was 12 of us.  Everyone had something good.   I had a loaded brisket potato and that was more than what I can eat.

When we got back home, Dan took Mr. Herbie out for a walk and we all settled in for the night.

Nov. 21st    Wednesday
It was 51 and foggy this morning when we got up. Shortly after the sun came out and burned off the fog. We use to get up early in the morning and it seems that now we are getting up at 7 or a bit later.   Dan to Herbie out for his walk, and I sat in my chair with my cup of tea and computer.  Dan got a call from one of the guys and went out for coffee at What-a-burger.  He enjoys doing that in the mornings.  It is 10:41 AM now and it is 80 degrees.. We took a ride to Corpus Home Depot, Dan is looking for a grill basket that goes on the bottom of his smoker.  We took Herbie along for the day. We took the Island on the way back home.  We stopped at Dairy Queen and got a small blizzard and went over to the Marina and ate it and watch the ships and boats go by on the inter-coastal.  On the way home we stopped over by Gene and Linda and visited with them.  When we left there, I talked Dan into going to Popeye's for chicken.  Everything worked out well, I did not have to cook... Herbie even got a little treat of chicken also.

Nov. 22nd   Thursday   ~~  THANKSGIVING DAY ~~
It was 57 degrees this morning.  I got up and had my morning coffee.  We looked through all the Friday adds.  Oh my, it was a full paper and everyone had sales..  Well, I knew that i wasn't going to hit the pavement early Friday, so I didn't get to interested.
I got my items ready so I could make my stuffing.. I don't like dry stuffing, so I used my imagination and made a really good moist stuffing.  I made some gravy to put on top of the stuffing.  We had dinner at 2 PM at the clubhouse and it was really nice.  There was 2 turkey's, a spiral ham, and prime rib. Lots of different sides and desserts.
I wasn't able to over indulge, but what I had was good.

We came back home afterwards and I cleaned up the dishes and Dan made some coffee and we settled down to relax.  Sounds like we do alot of relaxing eh!!

Nov. 23rd    Friday
51 degrees this morning.  We have been sleeping later and that is not a good thing.  I must of slept wrong or something, but my right ankle is so sore and I can hardly stand on my foot, much less walk. I sat in my chair most of the day to keep off of my foot.  Gene and Linda stopped by for a visit. We talked about going out for a late lunch to Alice Fayes for a fish sandwich. Linda had a hair appointment and we would go after she was done. Well, my phone went dead and I had it charging and missed the call.  I was happy that we decided to pass.. I made a breakfast for dinner, and then went back with my foot elevated. A cold front was coming through tonight. Time to bring out the sweat clothes.

Nov. 24th    Saturday
61 degrees this morning with wind and cooler. I woke up with pain in my foot.  It was 5:15 AM.  I laid there for a while and then I sat up and then put on my sweat pants and shirt.  I hobbled down to the kitchen and made some tea, took my meds and then got a ice pack and went and sat down for a while. This is what I did for most of the day.  Talked to Ron back home and he said that there is a snow storm under way.  I think that he said up to 8-10 inches is expected..
After dinner, I took another pain med and sat in my chair and I had fallen asleep and when I woke up it was 9:30 PM.. huh, that was a big surprise to me.. I got up and hobbled around, let Mr. Herbie out and I made it up to the bedroom and got ready for bed.

Nov. 25th    Sunday
Another not so good morning.  My foot had swollen more and it was very painful.. I managed to get to the bathroom and then I got back in bed instead of going down to my chair.  Herbie is so concerned, he follows me and waits and watches every move I make. I told Dan that I think that it is time for me to go to the ER. After having a small breakfast and struggling to get back up to the bedroom and get dressed, we were off to Portland.  I had a extremely hard time with the steps on the 5th wheel.  Getting into and out of the truck was just as hard.  At the ER they did blood work and xrays on my foot.  The blood work showed that I did not have GOUT, the xrays showed arthritis. the Dr. diagnosed it as osteoarthritis. He gave me prescription for pain meds and instructions for ice and heat packs on my foot, keep it elevated.   Got back home and hit the chair and Dan's nursing skills kicked in. He tells everyone, I am a terrible patient, really I am not, but he is a great caregiver..  Gene and Linda stopped by and we cancelled our trip to Mexico this week.  Hopefully we can do it within the next couple of weeks.
Dan made a small dinner and he took Mr. Herbie for his evening walk and we all settled in for the even. I have been taking my pain meds. every 4 hours so, hopefully my foot won't hurt so much in the morning.   I certainly hope that next week will be alot better.
