January 7th thru January 13th 2013

I not only do this blog every week to let everyone know what we do, but it is also helping us to remember what we did and when.  This is a great tool. I am sure glad that my friend Jay talked to me about blogging..

January 7th   Monday
This morning is Breakfast again with Heartland Owners.  There was 20 of us and that was a good turn out.  We took Ron and Eileen with us and they got to meet some of our good friends.  After breakfast we went to Portland and got our mail and then took a ride to Corpus to Academy and show them what SPID (South Padre Island Drive) looks like. Came back home to let the kids out and then we went to Wal-mart so Ron could get a fishing license and we picked up some groceries.
Came back and then we hung around.  We ate at home, and got rid of some of the left overs.

January 8th   Tuesday
It rained during the night and into the morning off and on.  A big storm is suppose to come late this afternoon and into the night.
Took a walk this morning and it was a touch and go with the rain.  It is nice having Ron and Eileen across the road.

After dinner Ron and Eileen and us went to Dairy Queen for dessert...

January 9th   Wednesday
It rained and rained most of the day, late in the afternoon the sun came out. We made a decision that we should go out for dinner tonight. Seeing that Moby Dicks had All You Can Eat Boiled Shrimp..  Ron and Eileen and Gene and Linda went with us.  I had just a small bowl of Gumbo and a side salad.  Dessert was at Dairy Queen..

January 10th  Thursday   ~~  Fishing Day  and HOC
What a big and beautiful sunrise.  That means that it is going to be a beautiful day.  According to the fishing schedule, today is suppose to be a great day for fishing..  We will see what the guys will bring home.  Lunch today again with HOC.. Hammerheads is on the schedule.  We have never been there, and Dan won't be there also. We got into Fulton with a half hour to spare. Eileen and I went to a shop that I like to go to.  They had a pair of Yellow Box, flip flops that I wanted a few weeks ago and they didn't have my size. Today they did and I bought them.
When we got to Hammerheads there was a sign on the door that it was closed due to NO POWER... Huh! I look around and the other businesses were open.. Well, I put a note on the door and said that The Heartlanders went down the street to Moon Doggies..  We had 6 couples.
Fish Taco's and they were really good!
(No I did not eat all of that)

Jim said what are you going to do with that picture?

It was a bit pricey for lunch.. So, I said "Been There- Done That"   On the way home we stopped at Bealls in Rockport, and Wal-mart and bought a few things that I needed.
The fisherman were back and they had a fair day.  Dan did not get anything, Ron caught 2 and Gene caught 11 but only 3 were keepers.

Oh well, maybe next time...  After dinner it was time to relax.

January 11th  Friday
Today was a shopping day, Eileen and I went to Corpus. Left at 9:30 AM,   The weather was really nice. Shopped on one side of South Padre Island Drive (SPID) and then went to the mall and had a pedicure. I had one there last year and liked it.  Dan and Ron met us in Corpus and we wen.t to dinner at Rudy's Smokehouse, and it was OK, Dan had moist brisket which he said was good and I had smoke turkey and it was good also. We came home on the island and the fog was rolling in off of the gulf.  By the time we hit the ferry it was dusk. It was nice to be back home after a long way and Herbie was happy to see his mama.. It was 67 degrees out when I went to bed.

January 12th  Saturday
It was 57 when we got up at 7AM.. Windy and it is suppose to be nice today again. I woke up with       a sore throat. During the day I had sneezes and coughs. That is not a good sign. I made Dan a nice breakfast and then I stayed in my chair with the electric throw.  We have had strong winds and cooler weather.  This is not a good thing. I decided that I needed to go to the grocery and buy the ingredients to make good ole fashion chicken noodle soup.  My Grandmother always made good Chicken soup. So, When that was done I enjoyed a big bowl of it.  I hope that it helps me get better.  We are leaving on a cruise on the 26th and I sure want to feel better.
Sorry that the Packers did not make it into the playoff... Well there is always next year.
January 13th  Sunday
Another cold morning. Gee I feel so bad that Ron and Eileen came to Texas and we have cold weather.  Well, this is Texas winter. The rain was needed and things look like they are greening up.
I woke up this morning and feeling just yucky.  Coughing and sneezing. Dan and I just stayed in today. We got a call my friends from North Dakota, who did not bring their 5th wheeler down called and said that they drove down for a few days and are staying with friends in Rockport. They came over for a visit.  It was sure nice to see them.

Gene and LaVerne Fettig... Bismark, ND

Dan made a steak for dinner and I had a salad and a sweet potato. Later we went for a Dairy Queen. It was sure busy with alot of kids of all ages.  Came back home and changed clothes and was nice and snugly.
Another week gone..
