February 25th thru March 3rd 2013

More bad weather, snow has made new records across the Midwest..

February  25th    Monday
It was a nice morning and then all of a sudden the temp dropped and the winds picked up.. The winds were strong and did not stop until later in the evening.  It blew over our satellite dish, our table that we had set up outside. loosened our flag pole.  Those palm trees were taking a lot of abuse.  Herbie did not get all his walks as one of us would be blown away.  The dust and sand from the fields were blowing all over the area, like a big dust bowl..  The thing I was happy about is that it was blowing during the day and not at night when I couldn't see what was happening.
Dan and I went out for dinner and when we left the restaurant the wind did down a little..  I went to bed and finished my book.  I have read alot of books so far this winter and I come to like Marie Force and her novels.  I had bought a few of her series.  She makes her readers feel like they are part of one big family.

Sun Set At Southern Oaks
 February  26th    Tuesday
Up early again at 6:30 today and it was 44 degrees out.  Dan, Ron and Gene had plans to go fishing today, but cancelled it last night after looking at the weather report. My foot again is throbbing and I am sitting with ice on it.  We have a lunch today at Moby Dicks.  Went to lunch and then home to rest.

February  27th    Wednesday
Today was a fishing trip day for Dan and Ron.  I got up early and took them to Port Aransas to the boat, as Dan's truck had to go to Body shop to get a scratch (Bad One) repaired.  Eileen followed me over there and brought me back home.  Afterwards I decided that I wanted to go to the walk in ER in Portland.  My left foot was still swollen and hurting, Seeing that I am limited to some medications I can take, I was given some pain meds and an Nasaid, which I can not take.  I am going to have to just keep icing it and hope for the best. The diagnosis is arthritis and I am suppose to see a rheumatoid Dr..  Later, Eileen and I went over to Port Aransas to meet the guys when they came in from fishing.  We drove down by the beach and Eileen went and walked the beach looking for shells.  We then drove to What a Burger and got a coffee and Lemon pie and went over to the boat docks and waited for the boat.    Between the both guys they got 14 lbs of fish.

They did enjoy the day, and boy did they stink when they got off the boat.

February 28th    Thursday
49 degrees this morning,  Dan's back is so sore, my foot is still swollen. Today I am going to be icing - icing - icing my foot.. Dan put the ice machine on my foot before he went to coffee with the boys.  It was really cold.    I took it off in about 1 1/2 hours.  Then in the afternoon he put it back on for about an hour..

We had a farewell dinner with the Zurns as they were leaving in the morning heading back to Tennessee.  It was prime rib night and Dan had it, I had a side salad and a baked potato and about 3 bites of his prime rib. ( I have a hard time digesting beef since my surgery)

On the way back on the ferry there was a beautiful sun set..   Hope tomorrow will be a nice day.

When we got back he put the ice machine on my foot again and then I took a pain pill, my book and went to bed.  I woke up with my glasses on and my kindle laying next to me..

March  1st    Friday
45 degrees this morning.. When I woke up this morning, surprisingly my foot is alot better.  I made it down stairs with less pain. Dan iced me up this morning before he made his coffee.  We went to Alice Faye's for lunch today with Ralph and Barb and we all had their fish sandwich.. It is just so good.  Afterwards we picked up Eileen and went to Corpus on a "Let's Use Our Coupons Day" Dan was the chauffeur for us.  First stop was Micheal's and then on down to Hobby Lobby, we had coupons for Joannes Fabric, but it was getting late and rush hour was starting..
I started making a baby hat with the loom that I had bought earlier this winter.  It turned out cute and I decided that I am going to make hats for the HOC North American Rally "Babies Wrapped with Love".

Some hats are a bit bigger than others, but not all babies heads are the same size when they are born...LOL
On the way home from Corpus, we were on the High rise bridge and seen smoke bellowing in the sky.  We thought that it was a controlled burn over at Goose Island State Park..  Well the closer to home we got, we got a call from our friends at the park and said that the fire was across the road from us, which Aransas Bay RV was.  They had evacuated the RV park as it was really close.

A few hours later the fire was contained and the next day we took a ride over and the fire had come right up to the park perimeter... Now that is scary.  When we were there 3 years ago there was a fire that had started out back of the park, but it was not as bad.

March  2nd   Saturday

Today was a confused day... Went to Goliad for market Days, only to find out that we were a week early.. Then went and visited the Presido La Bahia Mission. That was very interesting, Then we took the back roads to Corpus and were going to go to China Garden for dinner, but then Dan and I mentioned China Bear which is closer and we had gone there few times before and the food was great. Well to our disappointment, we went there and it wasn't like it was before. Not as many different dishes, some were not refreshed with new, and the fried shrimp did not taste good. On the way home we had to pull over as I got sick.. Yucks... Needless to say by the time we got home, it was not any better. YUCKS..... Hope things get better

March  3rd    Sunday
Well this morning was about 45 degrees when we got up..  Wind as usual..  Friend Dave (Cookie) came on over and brought his external drive enclosure over and helped me get my hard drive out of one of my older lap tops and I was able to connect it to my computer and take off information on the old one and transfer it to my flash drive.  It was cool to do and now I have to get one for myself as I have 2 other old laptops that I want to save some information that I have on the hard drives....
Then we went to HEB and picked up a few groceries and came home in time for NASCAR race that was just starting. I cut open some jalapenos and took the seeds out and then Dan prepared them as poppers.  Dan made steak for himself and a hamburger patty for me. We were not done eating when the free ice cream social was at the park, so Ron and Eileen and Dan and I went to Dairy Queen for dessert..  Came home and got ready to relax....before getting ready for bed.
