April 8th thru April 14th 2013

A week with Friends, Fun & Fellowship

April  8th    Monday
Left Waco around 9 AM and headed for Durant, OK... It was not a long day on the road.  Going through Dallas I was amazed at the bridges and spaghetti bowl of concrete.. It remind me of going through Louisiana 8 years ago.  Arrived at Choctaw Casino around 1 PM. What a nice park, big pull through,  green grass, alot of open spaces.

Later in the afternoon another Heartlander pulled in across the road, Bob and Pat Curry, shortly after Jay and Stella pulled in a few sites down from us.
We went out for dinner with Gene and Linda. We went over to the casino. It is a huge casino with alot of places to eat.  the buffet was a bit pricey and we did not want to go to a steak house. We went to the Blue Moon Cafe.  We had the daily special of shrimp and steak.  I traded my steak for Dan's Shrimp.  I had a bit of the steak and it was really good and tender.  I did not want to take a chance with the beef, as I have a hard time digesting beef.  After dinner we went and got our players card and then we went looking for the penny machines.  I found one and hit the button 5 times and I won alot of money.  It took about 45 minutes to register on the machine.. Lots of Pennies.. LOL  Came back to the RV, Dan took Herbie out for his nightly run.

April  9th    Tuesday
Up around 7 AM and turned on the news and all I have heard is about the storm that is heading through OK.
Well, tornado's and rain.  It is coming from the west and I don't think that the worst part will hit the Durant area.  I would not ever live in the OK area. Gene, Linda, Dan and I took the shuttle bus over to the casino for a sandwich and then we played the machines. I was doing quite well and had alot of playing time. Dan and I came back home and got settled in and waited for the storm to come.  I started reading my kindle and could not put it down and went to bed to read it.  Before I knew it was almost finished and it was way passed my bedtime..   The storm had changed and it was not a threat.  but it was raining and suppose to get cold.

April   10th    Wednesday
Woke up this morning and it was raining hard.  It was windy and cold out.  Bur--r-r-r-r
Had my coffee and banana and watching the morning program.  A few hours later Jay stopped by and said that he was going to call for the shuttle bus and go to the casino for lunch buffet. Sounded good.

There was 9 of us and while some of them were getting their players card, I went and put a few dollars in a machine.. Then when that ran out, I went to another one and put a few more dollars in.  When everyone was ready we went to the buffet.  It was a lunch buffet and it was 5.99 with a players card.. the food was delicious.  I of course ate more than I should of and had a stomach ache.. Dan and I went and found some machines that was of our liking and sat down and played.  Ah-Ha.. I did pretty good on it... I won a few more dollars to add to my previous winnings.  We left and came back home and I put Herbie's coat on him and then took him out for a walk.  It was still cold and he did not want to sniff too much.  Later our friends that we met at Southern Oaks, showed up for the Rally and they came over for a visit and coffee, then a few more people came on in to give us update on what is happening tomorrow. So we had a full house and that was fun.
Dan wanted to go back to the casino this evening and I chose that I wanted to stay home, so he went by himself.

April   11th    Thursday
36 degrees this morning and the first day of the Rally...  It was chilly again.. A group of us went to the casino for the breakfast buffet. $5.55 for seniors.

It was good and then afterwards Dan and I went and played a few bucks and seeing if my luck will change.
At 2 Pm was a meet and greet at the Club house.  We went and met the rally goer's and had coffee and cookies...  Some were going out to  dinner for steak and we decided that we would go to the Casino for dinner and play again..No good luck was had.

April  12th    Friday
It is a bit warmer this morning...  We went up to the clubhouse for doughnuts and coffee.  I had 2 glazed doughnuts and they sure tasted good. There was some games after lunch. I went and joined in on 9 hole golf card game and it was fun. I had to leave early as I had to get my casserole in the oven for the pot luck.  I tried to sit back and relax, but I got pre-occupied with other things.

The pot luck had some wonderful dishes and alot of it.. I made King Ranch chicken casserole and it turned out good.  There was about a good tablespoon left.  Dan and Herbie went out for the evening walk and all 3 of us settled in for the evening.

April  13th    Saturday
Breakfast this morning with the HOC..  Biscuits and Gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage. After the breakfast there was door prizes, and our name was the first one picked.  Then there was drawings for items that were from RV sponsors.  We won a nice rocking chair, and a $10.00 camping world gift certificate.

There was ladder game and I had gone up to watch them..  Around 3 pm there was a caravan of us going to Kingston for catfish dinner at BG Catch. It was a buffet and it was good. For dessert they had homemade peach cobbler and homemade ice cream.  Yummy.....

After we got back I took Mr. Herbie for his walk and then got settled in for the Nascar Race.

April  14th   Sunday - Today was 19 years ago that my Dad passed on....

Today is sunny and in the 50's when we got up.  Went to the Rally hall to have coffee and doughnuts with whomever.  This morning some are leaving for home. The rally is over.  What a great time. We met some more HOC from Oklahoma and Northern Texans.  Around noon we went to Sherman with the Howard's to Sam's and Wal-mart..We also had lunch at I-HOP ..

We are going to go to the casino tonight for dinner and one last try at some slots and then come home and get things organized to leave in the morning.

We are leaving Monday Morning and heading for Texarkana,AR and then to Tunica, MS, will stay there for a 5 days and then head to Cookeville, TN and stay there a week and visit my  mother and friends.  Then when we leave there we are heading to Elkhart IN and we will stay there until about the 7th or 8th of May and head north for home.
