March 18th thru March 24th 2013

March 18th    Monday
It is going to be a nice day and we decided that we were going to go to the beach today.  We left the dogs at home and off to the national Seashore we went.  Spring breakers are gone and that made it easy to drive on the island.

March 19th    Tuesday
Up early today, left at 7:30 to take Herbie and Molly to Salty Dogs Motel..  Surprisingly Herbie did not hesitate.  We left for San Antonio. It is a nice day.  We went the back roads day instead of the Interstate.  We stopped at The SAS (San Antonio Shoe) factory.  The guys looked at the Classic and Old Car Museum.  We walked through the general Store.  We had 2 bags of popcorn and a coffee and coke all for .25 cents.  What a deal.  I bought a bag of penny candy (small bag) stuffed full for $2.00. It was a nice break before we got to the Hotel.  Drove to Riverwalk to find the parking structure, and then went to the hotel and checked in and rested for about 1/2 before we headed back to the Riverwalk.

We walked the Riverwalk, walked to The Alamo, bought tickets for the boat ride, and ate at Casa Rio for dinner. Casa Rio is the oldest family owned restaurant on the River (est: 1946)  We have eaten there a few times before but the next time we think we will try a different one.

March 20th    Wednesday
We met Ron and Eileen for breakfast at the hotel. Dan likes to stay at the Dury Inns as they are nice hotels and most of them have a Happy hour with 2 free drinks each, hot food, and a very good breakfast for a reasonable price.     We had a nice ride home again, back roads but a different roads.  Stopped in Rockport for lunch before we went and picked up our furry children.  They were so happy to see us, and when they got home they both crashed..  I am glad that Herbie likes going there, and he knows that we will come back and get him.. I feel good leaving him there.

Dan and I both crashed when we got everything put away and settled..

March 21st    Thursday

I called the post office today and made sure that they are not going to send any more mail down here.  Found out that it is still snowing and that they had over 200 inches of snow so far.

Today Eileen and I went shopping with Barb.  We went to a resale shop in Corpus Christi, and I was really impressed on how organized it was.  Items we hung buy sizes, colors, and the store was clean.    After shopping we went for lunch at The Olive Garden, and oh it was so good.  All You Can Eat Soup and Salad.  That really worked for me.
Dan had washed the Landmark, and started to organize and put way some of our stuff from outside.  He also vacuumed and put the furniture back to where we can close up the slides.  I made him a wonderful breakfast for dinner.. I ate to much at Olive Garden that I was not hungry.

Dan's welder also arrived late this afternoon, and he was happy for that.  Ron, will take it back home with him when he leaves.

After dinner Dan decided that it is a Dairy Queen night. Ron, Eileen, Dan and I headed for Dairy Queen.  The Dairy Queen in Aransas Pass is a nightmare.  They never get the order right.

March 22nd    Friday
I got up early this morning (5 AM),
Ron and Dan went to Corpus to Harbor Freight to get some wire for his new welder that he bought.  I went and washed clothes only to find out that the propane ran out and I could not dry, so I had go to laundromat and fry them.  When Dan got back, he we went to dry them. After that we went to Ransom Road and visited with Larry and Ginnie.  Then we went out for a sandwich and came home and unwind..  took Mr. Herbie out for a walk and visited with a few people who were out and about..

March 23rd    Saturday
Dan and I had our coffee and discussed what our plan was going to be next week.  We didn't do much during the day until we went to China Garden for dinner with Ron and Eileen and Ralph and Barb. It was very good. After dinner Dan took the Island on the way home and we went on the beach. Dan stopped and Eileen walked on the beach for awhile looking for sandollars and she found a sea bean.. It is a seed from tropical fruit and the ban comes from Belize or Costa Rica...there are many different types and she found a sea heart bean...  then we stopped at Roberts park and watch a barge come through with a part of a oil rig on it...  and some dolphins... Seen a beautiful sunset.. A wonderful end to a nice day...

March 24th    Sunday
Windy again this morning.. Had an interesting early morning situation.  I was woken up at 2:15 AM by a shrieking nose.   I got up and looked around and then woke up Dan and told him that there is a detector that is going off.  In the meantime, Herbie woke up and then he was in disarray (shaking and panting and racing around.  One of the  detector went off.. What had sent it off was a Cherry Blossom Glade air freshener.  Once Dan got the noise under control, Herbie wanted to go outside.  Normally I would just open the door and let him out for potty, but I knew that I had to put a leash on him, as he would run.  Yep, I had a leash on him and I opened the door and he took off to the road.  So here I am, in my pajamas, barefoot walking down the street. I had just gone to the end of the road and wanted to come back and Herbie did not want to.. I got him back and now it is 3 AM and I was wide awake, and Dan went back to bed.  I stayed up with Herbie and watched TV for 2 hours and then went back to bed.  Herbie was all calmed down.

We had breakfast at Ron and Eileen's, Yummy.... Then Dan and I had to go get some groceries and   then we stopped over by Gene and Linda's for a visit and then we decided that we were going out for dinner at Beaches Cafe.   Ron and Eileen joined us.  Seeing that they were out of Bread Pudding, Dairy Queen was on the menu for dessert.  Ralph and Barb joined us and we had a great visit, as Ralph and Barb were leaving in the morning.
What a week... time to unwind.................

A week from today we leave our Winter Home and head to the Hill Country before we
Head  North.. Hopefully the snow will be mostly gone...
