April 1st thru April 7th 2013

Back On The Road Again - Heading North

April 1st    Monday    Canyon Lake, TX   Riverside RV Resort
What a nice and quiet morning... heard birds chirping.. We went out for breakfast at Granny D's.
What a nice place to eat. Dan ordered a stack of pancakes and WOW, they were plate size and he could not eat them all.

After that we drove to Camping World and Best Buy and Target.  On the way to Canyon Lake Yesterday Dan's Garmin GPS took a dump.  So he was on a mission, and looks like he will buy one when we get home. After shopping we headed home and Lee took us to the Levy at Canyon Lake.  Wow, The Lake is huge and also the water is way down... The top of the levy is asphalt and also used for walking or bike riding..

We came back home and later went to Gruene, Texas, which is a quaint and very historic town that has lots of shops and gardens.  We ate dinner at The Grist Mill and it was quite interesting. The food was good.

On the way home Dan stopped at BUC-EE'S for fuel.  It is the biggest gas stop I have seen.  60 pumps, and the store is huge.  They have food, sandwiches, sausages, novelties, clothing, Oh I could of stayed in their for an hour and not seen everything.

We got back home and the 6 of us sat outside and visited for a bit. The weather was great..  NO WIND.

April 2nd    Tuesday    Canyon Lake, TX   Riverside RV Resort
Dan was up early and sitting out side under the awning at 7 AM with light rain coming down.. Soon Lee and Gene joined him..  later us girls all wandered over.

Lee and Linda had Dr. appointments, So Dan and I and the Howard's decided that we would go and get a hamburger and then take a ride and look at some motorhomes that are out on lease.

Dan put a pork shoulder in the crockpot this  morning so we can have pulled pork for dinner.. Wow it sure smells good around here.   While Lee and Linda went to their appointments, we went for a ride to some RV consignment lots, looking to see what they had for motorhomes for Gene and Linda.  On the way home we stopped and got some ice cream to go with the Hot Apple Pie that Linda made for dessert.  When we got back we sat outside and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon.

We had dinner at 5 pm of pulled pork and potato salad and chips. Soon as the dessert was done, it started to rain.  Everyone went back to their rigs.  I took Herbie for his walk, and then settled in for the evening.  Around 11:30 PM, the rains came and they came hard.. I fell back to sleep and let the rain fall.

April 3rd     Wednesday    Leave Riverside RV   Arrive  Corp of Engineer Park     Waco Lake (Airport)
Woke at 5:45 AM and the temp was 56.. Cloudy skies this morning and the clouds were on the move.
Left Riverside RV around 9:30 AM.. Said our good byes to our friends Lee and Linda.

Sure was nice to spend some time with them and have some good laughs and stories.  Arrived at Waco lake around 2 :15 PM and it is lightly raining.. and cool.  We are all set up and the fireplace is going.  The park is adjacent to a flight pattern from the airport. I was outside with Herbie and a jet was taking off and it scared him, he stopped and looked up in the sky to see what was happening..  LOL... poor thing is scared of his own shadow sometimes.
Gene and Linda had dinner served last night.  They brought over Brisket Sandwiches and potato salad.  It was yummy..
Herbie wanted to go out for another walk, and I looked out the window and the area was filled with deer everywhere.  When we got back from the walk, there were about a dozen of deer that took off running for the woods.

April 4th    Thursday    Corp of Engineer Park    Waco Lake (Airport)
45 degrees this morning.  It is so quiet this morning here at the park.  No planes landing or taking off.
Waco Lake is sure down since we were here 2 years ago. We took a ride this afternoon to Alvarado to look at motorhomes.. It was cold out, and I did not have gloves with..  On the way back to Waco, we stopped at Sam's Club and we bought a rotisserie chicken and I made a baked potato and that was dinner.

Afterward the sun came out as it was going down and it was sure pretty.. Watching it come down over Lake Waco.

April 5th    Friday      Corp of Engineer Park    Waco Lake (Airport)
44 degrees this morning and the temps are going to rise..
I finished making 21 baby hats for the HOC charity event at the June Rally in Goshen.  Babies Wrapped In Love.

Around 11 we left with Howard's to go to The Texas Rangers museum. We have been there before and wanted to share it with our friends.  It is an awesome place to learn about such a powerful group of law enforcers.

After that we went to Best Buy and Dan bought a new GPS his old one just quit.. No sense in trying to send it in and find the problem, so he bought a new one.
We are having a fish fry tonight, with fish that Dan and Gene caught this winter on the North jetty.  Campfire afterwards.  How much better can it get.

April 6th    Saturday    Corp of Engineer Park    Waco Lake (Airport)
Woke up this morning and the wind is blowing fiercely off of Lake Waco.  There are alot of tents in the park and the tents were blowing apart. There are alot of weekend warriors as we call them, with their children in the park this weekend.  Dan and I had to go back to Best Buy this morning to exchange the GPS that we bought yesterday as it was defective..  I was anticipating some problem with taking it back, seeing that there had been issues a while back with Best Buy returns.  Well, we had no problem, which was good.
Came back home and took Mr. Herbie out for a walk and the wind was blowing him around.
Dan was prepping his ribs for the grill tonight for dinner.  He made them on a charcoal grill and they were delicious.  Gene and Linda brought yummy fried potatoes and coleslaw.  Afterwards, we sat outside with a nice campfire going.  So nice to be able to have a campfire.  Now that is camping.

April 7th    Sunday     Corp of Engineer Park   Waco Lake (Airport)
62 degrees this morning. I was up at 5:30 AM    No wind was blowing.  Yip-p-p-e-e-e-e..
Today is the last day here at Waco lake and tomorrow we head to Durant, OK to a Heartland Rally. Looking forward to seeing some HOC friends. The Howard's and Us took a ride into town so they could get their car washed and we stopped at Wal-mart. What would this country be without Wal-marts.. Then when we got back, Dan and I went back into town so Dan could fill up with Diesel. We came back and I turned on NASCAR and we watched the race.
Dan got the the charcoal fire started and then Gene made his famous hamburgers for dinner and they brought the pickles, chips, potato salad and dessert..  We sat out side for awhile and then Gene and Dan sat out until dusk chatting. Tomorrow is moving day.
