Spring Time Is Here In Texas

The Texas Blue Bonnets

 March 19th    Monday
It was a nice morning today,  We had a last HOC get together Breakfast this morning at
Alice Fayes in Fulton, on the bay.  16 people showed up and there were some new faces and that was great to meet them. We all had a great time, Said good byes and see you in fall..

Then, our neighbors Emma and Ben asked if we could all go out to dinner together so of course we said yes.  They are a sweet couple.  We went to The Beaches in Port Aransas and had a great meal and visit.. Came back home and made some coffee and sat out and relaxed...

March 20th    Tuesday
Rain, Rain this morning. Dan said that is really stormed early in the morning and I slept through it.  Dan went for coffee with the Ransom Road Boys.
We met our Friends Ron and Rose and Mic and Linda at "The Butterchurn".  The food was very good this time. We had a good visit with our friends and most likely will not see them until November.

March 21st   Wednesday
Cool morning this morning.. About 60 degrees. WOW I slept until 8 am..  This daylight saving time sure has every ones biological clock upset.  Our HOC friends Dave and Mary and Reggie and Nancy left this morning started to head back home.
Dan and Gene ventured out this morning to play with the fish...

Fishing was not too good, but it was a nice day Dan said.

March 22nd  Thursday
It was a nice sunny morning out. Dan made breakfast and we sat out side and finished our coffee and chatted with passer Byers.  We went and washed his truck and while he was gone I went and visited with Ralph, Barb, Joanne and Bruce. They were finishing their breakfast of homemade waffles and strawberries at Bruce and Joanne's rig.  Plans were made to go to Beaches Cafe and Bakery in Port Aransas. As usual the food was good and so were the desserts..
March 23rd   Friday
This morning there was light fog coming in, but as soon as the sun came out it went away.  Another nice morning, which we took advantage of and sat out and had our coffee.   After having a little lunch we took a drive over to Lamarch drove through Goose Island State park. It has been many years since we had been there.  There was nice camping on the gulf. Concrete canopies with concrete tables..  Would be nice to stay there for a few nights and watch the stars..  The Clubhouse is almost done and everyone is working diligently to meet the deadline for tomorrows open house.
We stayed home for dinner and had some delicious homemade chili that I made a few days ago, with some french bread, oh yummy.  Chili is always good after it sits a few days.
Sat outside again and enjoyed the nice evening..

March 24th   Saturday

Dan made 2 key lime pies for Sunday happy hour.... Those pies are really good.  After we got done cleaning up, we went to Bealls as we had 5 20% off coupons that we had to use... I got some jewelry, Dan bought some shorts and I bought capri's and a purse....

Came back and Gene and Linda were here and Wilma and Jim, waiting for us so we could all walk over to the clubhouse and see the new building that is finished and have a scrumptious lunch... We are looking forward to coming back next year and enjoying the amenities...
Then we went back later and listened to the Winter Texan Band and visited with the guests and friends from other parks....  It was a fun day..

March 25th  Sunday

Light fog this morning and all is quiet in the park this morning... Too much partying last night... It was a great time, lots of laughs..
Sat out this morning and had coffee and enjoyed the nice weather again.  Watching the Nascar race this afternoon and having Happy hour here at our rig, as Dan is serving the Key Lime Pie that he made... Going out to eat tonight and going to bed early as we are leaving early tomorrow to go to Mexico for one last trip of the season..  lots to do this coming week, as we are leaving early Sunday morning for the trek back home.. Home Sweet Home...

March 12th to 18th, 2012~~Southern Oaks Weekly Re-Cap~~

Here we are another week has gone, 2 more weeks and we are headed North via Tennessee..  It is hard to believe that we have been here since November 1st.   Spring Break is here and the beaches are packed 3 deep with trucks and cars.. Kids are everywhere and that is according to the newspapers.  We do not go on the beaches when Spring Break in on...

March 12th  Monday
It was foggy when we got up and humid.. the sun came out and broke the fog.  We had to take Herbie to get groomed and after we dropped him off we went and did our laundry.  Came back home to drop the laundry off when finished and the groomer called that Herbie was ready.  After we picked Herbie up we stopped over to another park and visited with Gene and Linda and decided that we would go out for lunch at Alice Fayes on Fulton Bay.. We all had this delicious fried fish sandwich. It was huge with sweet potato fries..  During lunch Gene asked when we are going to book another cruise and Dan said we can do it when we get back from lunch... Dan has been doing some research on cruises for next year and he found a good price and of course it was with certain dates. So we are all booked for another cruise.  Our good friends from Home are coming down for a couple of months this coming winter and they also booked on the cruise and there are a few others that are thinking about it.
For dinner we went out to a little Mexican restaurant not far from here and had a bit to eat.. Came home and made some coffee and sat outside and enjoyed the nice warm evening.

March 13th   Tuesday
Foggy and warm again this morning along with light rain..  We were suppose to have our rig washed and waxed but Omar came and asked if he could change the date to Saturday..No problem we said.. We want a good job.  Later in the day the sun came out and it was nice.  I was inside working on my flower pins that I had started and not finished.. Got those all done now.

March 14th   Wednesday
It was a nice and warm morning out and so we sat out and had our coffee and a few people stopped over to visit.  Later we headed over to The Bakery Cafe for a late breakfast and we made it their with 5 minutes to spare before they stopped making it...  On the way over Dan was checking out something in his computer on the truck and we would like to share this... It is unbelievable:    we put on 7,721 miles since we left home the last week in October; we used 535 gallons of diesel; and the truck averaged 14.4 mpg...

The Heartland group all met for dinner at KIKO's Mexican Restaurant in Corpus. Everyone had a great time admiring the decor, visiting, and of course the great Margarita's and food.  We all walked out stuffed

March  15th   Thursday
Coffee outside again in the warm AM.. Few people stopped over, and then Reggie and Nancy, Dave and Mary and Dan and I went to Charlotte Plumbers for Soup and Salad Bar lunch.. Oh my that Tortilla Soup was just so good and they had a wonderful assortment for the salad bar. Came back home and did a few things around the trailer and then when supper time came we went to Pizza Hut and met up with a group of friends from another park.. We were sad to hear that our favorite waitress had quit.. It sure was not the same without her...

March 16th    Friday
It was windy again. Gene and Linda came over after they dropped their Kolby off at the groomers.  She brought over a flash drive and asked if I would put my pictures from the cruise on it for her..  Gene asked Dan if he would put an update in his GPS.  Oh my gosh we laughed so hard on what he had saved in it..  Some place in Russia and also in Asia..  His clock was set for Asia time...  We asked him when he was there??? So, we got it all straightened out for him and brought it back to them when we went and picked them up for dinner..  Yep, we went out again for Mexican again and this time to Pepito's in Portland and it was outstanding also...

March 17th    Saturday   St. Patty's Day
Well woke up today to wind and humidity. To windy to sit out.. Omar was coming to wash and wax trailer so I had to get dress right away and then I had my coffee and woke up. I read my email and forums and then I went and got a pedicure and manicure and stopped at Subway for a sandwich for lunch..  We are eating dinner at home tonight and making something light..

Today are the 40th Rattlesnake Races at San Patricio Fairgrounds.  Some of the crazy ladies in the park are going to join in the racing of them... ouch... not me... I am staying far away from their.  Here are some pictures from friends that were there..

March 18th  Sunday

Dan made breakfast this morning and we cleaned up and then talked about what route we are going to when we leave here and where we were going to stay at on the way..
Had a few visitors and then we watched the NASCAR

So this is another week that is crossed off the calendar.
