May 14th to May 20th 2012 Another week

It all started 11 years ago when we were clearing our woods for our home site and for a pole building.  After Dan and I cut and cleared the trees, we hired an excavator to come in and clean up the area and level it..  He found some huge rocks and said that it would be nice to set them in the front someplace so people can see them..  Those were just 3 nice size boulders.  After 11 years the rest is history and wondering if it will ever end.

May 14th    Monday
Today started out nice and quiet, Dan was up early and out the door for a physical appointment and then he had to pick up his new glasses and run  a few errands.  I thought it was a good day to wash clothes and bring a few more items in from the trailer.  I woke up with the Coughing and the Crud.. later in the day, my voice was going, and I was getting tired.  Dan came home and we had a small lunch and then he decided that he was going to go and play in the woods for a couple of hours.  Well, it turned out to be many hours. He found a few rocks that he wanted to dig and the one that he chose was a huge one.  The pictures below don't constitute for the anxiety that went along digging it.

When he got it out of the hole, he didn't know how he was going to get it in the yard..Dan like challenges and this one was.. After dinner we watched the finales of our favorite Monday night programs.  I was not feeling well so after Mike and Molly, I went to bed.
May 15th   Tuesday
Got up this morning and not feeling to good, coughing and runny nose and etc.  I made myself a couple cups of tea and settled in to watch "The Today Show" Later Dan and I had to go to Munising to run a few errands and then we had lunch at SUBWAY... It was really nice in town and all of a sudden a gust of wind came and the temps drop 15 degrees in just minutes.   Once we got home Dan wanted to bring his Pet Rock and place it in the yard. So, I helped him along by telling how low to put the bucket and he pulled the rock with the backhoe to it's final resting place...

May 16th   Wednesday
This morning it was not to cold out, I had a rough night with coughing, but once I fell back to sleep, it seemed to be OK for a few hours.  Even though when I woke up I did not feel to great, I decided that I would have Dan take me into town to pick up my new glasses. We dropped off a recliner to Salvation Army, they had to have someone come out and check it out before they would take it.  Well, it looked like new and hardly sat in.  They took it... Then went to Verizon and I got a new phone.  Mine was used up and time for a new one..I don't need a smart phone as I have a laptop.  What I didn't like is that they now charge you when you get a new phone or upgrade, "A UPGRADE FEE".  Sirius Radio also has contract fee.  Everyone coming up with more ways to get money from you.  Then we went to Lowe's to look for some stain for the front porch and ended up buying it at Menard's.  Stopped at the China Buffet for a late lunch which also constituted as a early dinner. We haven't had any Chinese for some time and it tasted good.  We can come and Dan napped in his chair on the porch, Herbie and I napped on the bed,,I slept about 4 hours.  The day pooped me out.  Oh well tomorrow is another day.

May 17th    Thursday     TODAY is SYTTENDE MAI, the Norwegian CONSTITUTION Day,
Dan being Norwegian, this is a day he always remembers.
Dan decided that this was a good day to drain and clean out the waterfall.  He had it drained before we left for the winter, but when we came back there was alot of water in it from the snow that we had and the rain... I went and got the garden tractor out from the back barn, and took Herbie for a ride in the woods and then went and transported some plants around.  We are going to take apart one garden and re-do it.  I was asked if I would be on a garden walk, I was hesitant about doing so, but I broke down and said I would. So I have been re-planning on what I am going to dig up and re-plant...
Dan went and cleaned the pond and started filling it...  We closed shop early and came in and got ready for dinner...

May 18th    Friday

Rain this morning and cool. I had to be ready to leave the house at 9:15 am as Eileen and myself were going on a Garden Club day trip... We went to Plesschers Green house out near Curtis.  They had alot of plants and hanging baskets but nothing that really caught my eye.  I bought some Zinna's plants that were pretty far  along and some other annuals that I can plant in the front gardens.  Then we went over to The Chamberlain's Inn and we had lunch there..  We had a nice visit and then headed back home.  The weather was warm, sunny and beautiful.. Dan was busy today while I was gone, he power washed the front of the house and side of the garage along with the deck to the front door. The waterfall is full of water and running beautifully.
Ron and Eileen came and picked us up and we went out for our annual Friday night Fish dinner.  Another full day.  Oh ya, we stopped at the Dairy Flo and had a yummy ice cream cone for dessert..
May 19th   Saturday
Woke up and had breakfast and Dan and I talked about what we were going to do this morning.  I am still hacking and coughing so I did not to do much that would exhurt myself.  Dan went and brought the tractor over to the side garden and I put all the rocks that surrounded the garden in the bucket and he took them away.  They were smaller  rocks than what we are going to re-do the garden with.   I had dug out some of the plants that I wanted to keep, then Dan  took the tractor bucket and scooped the dirt that was there and along with the weeds and took them into the forest.  We will be adding new dirt to the garden, when we start to re-do it.  We sprayed total kill on some of the weeds around the garden...  That took most of the day. It was very warm with a nice breeze. Herbie was enjoying the day laying around and watching.  Oh yes, he did get a few tractor rides.  We cleaned things up and put away the tools and came in and cleaned up. Thinking what I was going to make for dinner and then we both thought that it was a good night to go to the casino and have a wet burrito. We met our friend Pat there and then when we walked in we seen Del and Cliff sitting there while their wives were playing the machine.  What surprise.  I met Dar on the Country Living Pen Pal site years ago.  They live in Washington State but have a farm in Garden, Mi about 50 miles from our home.  We don't keep in touch as often as we had, but we were happy to see each other.   We had a delicious meal and put a few coins in the machine and left.
                                    Another day gone by....

May  20th   Sunday
Up early today and it was warm out..  The sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning.   Made breakfast and then cleaned up around here. Ron and Eileen came by for coffee after church, and visited with them..  Dan and I talked about what we were going to do today.  He wanted to re-check his brakes again on the trailer.  He needed my help as he re-bled the brakes to make sure that there was no air in the lines.  After that I went and brought out my sewing machine and made some covers for the backs of our dining chair in the trailer when we travel..  Seeing we have new chairs, I want to take a precaution on any scratches. Dan went and put his stuff in the front compartment of the trailer.  I brought in some more stuff from the trailer  from this winter.  I am not going to take that much along this winter that is for sure. Well, after we were done we just relaxed, and when we seen the dark skies coming quickly we fired up the grill and Dan made our steaks and I made a salad and then the rains came..  Wind and rain and then the temps dropped again.

Well that is the end of the week..  Next week is going to be a busy one with appointments and luncheons and of course Herbie has to go to the groomer.    17 more days and we leave for Gillette, WY for  HEARTLAND RALLY..                   UNTIL NEXT WEEK..
