May 7th to May 13th 2012

It looks like spring is coming. The leaves are coming out, plants are popping up, and the grass is growing. Little frogs are jumping out from the rocks and seeking safety.. I have caught a few and took them to the water fall and watched them swim to safety...

May 7th   Monday  ~~ RUG CLEANING DAY
Today we have an appointment to have our carpet cleaned and seeing that they are here we had the carpet cleaned in the 5th wheel..   We spent the day on the porch for awhile and then went to the spare room and watched TV and Dan slept in the recliner. Dan has got a cold and cough. My friend Eileen also has same thing. They say that it lasts about 3 weeks.  I then went and made some cupcakes.  Dan always like a snack around 9 PM..  I made some Terayaki Chicken and rice for dinner.  That was good or a change. We put some of the furniture back in the living room and sat down and watched our Monday night TV programs..

May 8th   Tuesday ~~  APPOINTMENTS..
It was cool and rainy this morning.  Dan had an appointment to take his truck in for a recall check I had an appointment to have a ultra sound of my carotid arteries.   We both were done at about the same time and Dan and I met for breakfast at Perkins Pancake.. After we were done eating, Dan went his way and did some shopping and I went to Kohl's as I have a 30% off coupons.  Can't let those go to waste. I can always find something that I can't live without.  LOL     Went to Wal-mart and picked up a few items and then I was tired and off to home I went.  When ever we go to Marquette or Escanaba it is always a long day.  It is 40 miles one way to either of the cities.
I didn't feel much like making dinner today,  So I just made a Taco Salad.  We both were happy with that.     It was a long and busy day... We are tired...
May 9th   Wednesday   ~~ Lunch With Red Hat Ladies
What a nice and sunny morning..  It was a nice day to go and have lunch with the Red Hat Ladies..  My friend Pat drove and I was happy about that.  It was a hour and half away where everyone was meeting.  One of the Ladies own this restaurant and she has such good food.  We talked about what everyone was going to do for their Red Hat events and when we were going to meet again..   On the way home, Pat and I stopped at Tony's Green Thumb Garden Center and I bought up a bunch of plants and tomato and basil plants.   On the way home we stopped at Culver's for a double strawberry cone and it was just the perfect way to end a great day with my friend Pat.  I was still full from lunch and Culver's, so I made Dan a Breakfast for dinner.   He was happy with that..

May 10th  Thursday  ~~ Cleaning Out Gardens
There was a frost last night and when I seen the grass this morning I was worried that all the plants that I bought yesterday got nipped.  Luckily it did not harm the plants.  The sun came up and the day turned out just beautiful.  No wind and sunny. I cleaned off the garden bench and organizing my utensils. I started to tackle cleaning out some of the beds. I decided that one of them is going to change drastically.  Some of the plants I dug out and put in smaller containers.  Being outside the time goes by so fast.
Dan and I decided that we don't want large meals, The BBQ grill is out on the deck and it is so easy to just put something on it for dinner.  Today was my brother Craig's Birthday.. he was 64 years old..  He is anxiously waiting for his Birthday next year when he will be 65 and on Medicare and can quit his part time job...

This picture was taken 60 years ago, It was Craig's 4th Birthday!!!!

May 11th  Friday ~~
Dan left early this morning for town as he has to get his blood work done and get some errands done.  Before I started my day, I called Sandy who lives in Northern Wisconsin.  It was her Birthday yesterday also and she turned 65. We laughed and wondered what the next 65 years will bring.. She has alot of Medical issues and The Good Lord, has heard every ones prayers for her.  Yes, she is like a sister to me..  We have been good friends for over 30 years.  We don't talk everyday, nor do we see each other maybe once a year, we still are good friends.  We have been there for each other in good times and sad times.  We have had many many good times and laughs.
Despite all my aches and pains from yesterday in the garden, I decided to tackle another bed. This one is in the front of the house where we re-did it last year.

Dan has this thing with ROCKS. Our property has alot of big rocks on it.   He likes the idea of landscaping with natural products.   I took a Herbie for a tractor ride in the woods and seen all the wildflowers that are growing. Trillium's, Fiddle heads (which are ferns that first pop out) Wild Leeks,Trout Lilies, Blue Cohash, Blood Root, wild yellow and Blue violets, Dutchmen Britches plus different varieties of ferns.
May 12th  Saturday ~~
Sitting here writing this I am looking out the window at the trees. With the nice warm weather we have been having the leaves are starting to pop out. I bet by next week they will be out pretty much.  The forest floor is all green and covered.  Dan decided to mow the front part of the property as the grass has really grown.  I am sure he will do the back part today or maybe tomorrow..
 Front part of grill

Looking from Hwy down our drive. Looks good.

Looking at back yard from the woods path
I left this morning to go to a craft show and when I came home, he had the rest of the lawn mowed and he was in the woods with his back hoe tractor digging rocks.   The yard looks great.

Enough work for the day,  Let's go and have coffee and cookies..
May 13th   Sunday ~~  Mother's Day
This morning I woke up coughing and runny nose.  I started feeling sluggish last night after dinner.  Had breakfast and there were things that I wanted to do outside, so I spent some time out there.  Dan thought that a nice rock would look good in front of the house and garage.  He went and brought up one that he found in the woods.  I went and dug up some stuff in the gardens in front of the house.
Dan had helped me with a few things outside.  Ron an Eileen were coming over for dinner so I had some things to do inside.  I had to give Herbie a bath, he was sure dirty, mostly from roaving around in the dead leaves at the tree line.

We grilled steaks and baked potato and salad, and also Apple pie for dessert.  By the time they left, I was getting hoarse and coughing more...  Molly and Herbie had a great time together, she loves Herbie and wants to him to chase her. They get along so well together.
Shortly we will be heading out west to Gillette for a Heartland rally, Sure hope I will be feeling better by then.
Well, the week is gone and another one is waiting for us. Wonder what it will bring us.
