Welcome,

Welcome to my blog... Dan and I are always on the go and always have something to share. By the time we see or talk to you we have forgotten some of the highlights. So Hopefully you will enjoy our adventures and stories as we have enjoyed being there.

Sept 10th thru Present --Back on Track

Greetings Everyone...

I am back on track.   First of all I want to Thank Everyone for their prayers, get well cards and calls.  I am doing just great.  Monday the 10th of Sept. I had an appointment with the Dr. to get my staples out..  Yippeee I can now sleep better.Dr. said everything healed up great.   When ever we go to town it is a all day affair.  We did not get back until late afternoon..  I have a new menu to follow and that is good.   I went to a Simply Tasteful party with Eileen.  All the sample of foods looked good, but nothing that I could really eat.  I was nice to be out among the ladies again.
Weds. the 12th I went with Eileen to Escanaba when she took Molly in for a bath.  Went to JoAnn Fabrics, and why is it when they have great coupons, I never can find anything that I need.. Well, I did buy a few things. Stopped at Elmer's Foodmart and then picked up Molly and headed home.

This past winter I had signed up and paid for 2 Red Hat Events to attend in August.  Well, after my surgery I realized that I would not be able to attend.  So I offered my reservations to a friend and she went and had a blast.

Dan and I had gone to Owatanna, MN for a Heartland Rally.  It was a long ride, but we made it in one day.  It was nice to see our Heartland friends that have been there earlier, and in a few days everyone was there. We left Herbie home with Ron and Eileen and Molly.  I sure missed him. I was told that he sure missed us.  The Minnesota chapter leaders sure did a good job.  I had my first experience of eating in a restaurant, a Chinese buffet, which a group of us went to. Oh My..... I had a hard time deciding what I could eat.  Dr. told me that my stomach is the size of an egg.  Try to took at food and decide what would fit..  Well I did a good job of judging and I even got a discount. Which was not alot.  Saturday night pot luck at the campground, was my first experience of eating the wrong food, too fast, oh my....

We left on Sunday to come home and we got as far as La Du
Flambeau and the colors in Wisconsin were very vibrant.  We went to The Lake of the Torches for dinner and some slots.  It was fun and No I did not come out ahead.  Dan only lost $5.00..  We arrived home Tuesday around 2 PM and was sure happy to be home and see Mr. Herbie.

Sunday Oct 7th...............

I m going into my 7th week post surgery and I sure have had some experiences.  I won't go into the gorery details, but it was an experience.  By the way, I have had fun playing /learning about my new I-Pad..  I even can take pictures with it...

Since we have been back home from Minnesota, we have or should say that Dan mostly has helped in cutting back the flower gardens and putting away the yard stuff.  He has cut the grass a few times and then he has also mulched leaves a few times.

The colors I would say have peaked and they sure are pretty as we drive through the woods.  Friends of ours from Illinois came up on Weds and we had a great time with them.  Dan smoked his ribs for them and that was a treat.

We went out for breakfast one morning and took them for a ride to Marquette and showed them the ore docks and presque isle park and then we took them to the junkyard of iron art.  John was impressed and said that when he gets home he is going to get his welder out and make some..  (Smile)

Sat. morning they woke up to their first snow fall.  It was snowing very hard, but it was a wet and wasn't sticking.. They decided to leave as they didn't want to get snowed in, as they had commitments on Monday..  It was alot of fun to see them..

Saturday I picked up my friend Eileen and went to Munising to a couple of craft shows.  Lake Superior was just a roaring.. of course I took my camera out of my purse before I left.  The craft show at the church was more of a social hour. Sat and had coffee with friends and chatted. Then on to the American legion and I bought a few items, then on to our friends Garage Sale and visited with them.  Didn't see anything that I couldn't live without..  We stopped at The Falling Rock Bookstore and have a bite of lunch and then on home.

So, now I will continue on keeping up on the blog.  I have been doing this for a year and I have enjoyed it very much.

Have a wonderful week and get out and enjoy the fall colors.

  1. Great update Karen. Nancy and I as so happy with your progress. It was GREAT seeing you and Dan in MN. The pics of your back yard is awesome.
Can't wait to get home for a while and try out my new smoker. It may take a few times to replicate what Dan can do with his.
